![]() Sawyer says "No - you are speaking Korean" in my episode, and yes I *cough* borrowed Ekos last line (and Hurleys line before that) from "?". And a *cough* few other lines. Its a neat trick, actually, it helps make the characters sound like themselves, and this does happen a lot on the show so its all legit. You called that a crossover. Need to think about that, actually. ![]() Oh, just so you know, there is one more confirmed, and two more potential, "real" crossover events. And I'm not counting Libby at Santa Rosa and Widmore on the island. ![]() Keep guessing. Quote:
One thing I noticed is that when you are doing it as a script, you can use formatting to make reading it easier. That can be a pain in the backside because when you are writing you are doing it on your machine at home and [/i] looks very much like [i/] but you just try messing that up and its all wrong. I spent about half an hour in "Preview Post" mode.

Yeah, originally I wasn't going to write my epi as a script but I think I certainly will now - if only to keep everything structured nicely

Now that 4x05 is posted, I think I need to wrap this up.
The second "confirmed" cross over is Kelvin who Widmore says taught Robert interrogation techniques. Kelvin is an unusual name, and being in the same line of work makes that a confirmed cross over. Robert on the other hand. He could be the Robert from 4x01 who bearded Jack is talking to. But Robert is a common name, so maybe not. Also Widmore says "you do know Robert, don't you" which could mean they met before, off the island. Or it could just mean "he is the guy who caught you and hit you over the head 5 minutes ago. So I'd say I'll leave that to future writers to explore.

Hmm... I noticed the Kelvin as well.
And I assumed, strangly, that Robert was that Cop guy that Locke almost shot in "Further Instructions" :P It seems the shift from Prose to script has been made, oh well... I like mine just the way it is... but prose can be annoying with it's "he said" "she said" routine.

That guy was called Eddie though.
![]() Anyway, Lost itself wouldn't really lend itself to prose, i.e. I think a novel based on the series would be much more inside the characters' heads than the show lets us, which would kind of kill debate. The show itself is much more script-like... considering it uses a script. :PIt's also much clearer and easier to re-read when it's in script format, which is important in something like this. :P

I think variety is good. And I like your episode just the way it is, too! ![]() Quote:

I think both styles of writing in prose and script have worked so far, and it is nice to see variety just as much as it would be nice to see a uniform approach to this project....but what matters most I think is that each author writes in the way they feel most comfortable in order to produce the best possible episode.
If people choose to write in script then fair enough since such a style can work really well, but personally I think that writing in prose is preferable...yes reading script is arguably easier and clearer, but I think that prose flows far smoother and creates more of a sense of atmosphere and is better in advancing and highlighting characterisation, since there are only so many prompts and emotional descriptions you can write in a script before you are essentially just writing a large chunk of prose. As a show Lost has actors to express the emotions each scene demands, whereas if you're reading the action then it's up to the reader to work and to imagine it and by using prose I think it's easier to bring in a lot more detail to the story, either explicit or subtle. So long as you write from an outside and as objective as possible point of view, meaning you don't write a character's internal thoughts or anything, then a piece of prose can open up a lot more questions and possibilities for the reader to explore than script can. Again I have nothing whatsoever against any episode written in script form because all the episodes have been really great reads so far, but I just wanted to fight prose's corner for a bit there!

108, I'm a tad confused, lol. But I really did love this episode. It made me think of "Days of Future Past" from the X-men Comics, (which is like an alternative reality from the future for non X-geeks, lol
) Is this the sort of thing you were going for? It was very cool though. I just want to get some things clear, Kate is alive? You had the chance to kill her, but Kate is alive? :P And I'm going for Hurley's flashbacks being real, lol. I'm trying to sort stuff out before I write my episode, lol.

Everyone had a chance to kill Kate, yet noone has. But I gave everyone a chance of the experience, and even Ki didn't really enjoy it as much as she thought she would ![]() I have never read X-Men comics, so can't really comment. But what I did try to do was to leave it open to interpretation. Does Hurley have a vision of what might happen, or does he jump into an alternative reality the moment he is NOT saving Kate? Whatever interpretation you choose, the key is that he is supposed to save Kate but fails at first, and then succeeds. He is given instructions to do this in my episode, both in the flashback and in the alternate reality that he experiences. This ties in with some of the themes of S3 and the scene in 4x01 where Jack remembers he has to keep Ben alive (towards the end). So while on the face of it this is "Flashes before your eyes" meets "Dave" for the Lost Christmas Episode, its actually heavy on theory. ![]() So yes, that means the flashback is real, but it came close to be the flashback for the alternative reality. Hurley almost called his imaginary friend Vincent ![]() And as far as your episode is concerned, the main action in the opening scene and in the two scenes where Locke appears with Widmore and Richard, have already been moved forward by Ki. Someone may in the future explore the off-island relationship between Richard and Kelvin, but that would have to be in a Richard or Widmore flashback, which I really don't think anyone will attempt. ![]() One more thing: all the things that have changed have changed in pairs (which is how Hurley figures out he can put things right by saving Libby). Jin speaks english, Sun doesn't. Michael and Walt stayed behind, Charlie and Claire left on the raft, and ultimately got off the island in a boat and so on. There is one little thing that I put in when I swapped Henry and Ben - I made Alex a boy of mixed race as a clue that Ben really is Alex father. And one more thing: In this episode I revealed the origin of Hurleys nick name. I don't think anyone noticed But he is called Hurley because as a boy he had a catapult. And what you do with catapults is to hurl stones. ![]()
