hi all
i was just wondering that when micheal was talking to 'walt' a lot of people thought he was talking to the others. So if walt has been 'in the room' or being tested, how would he get on the computer?

Now either walt is 'pretending aswell' and has in fact been turned into 'one of them'
Or it was an 'other' talking to mike. It could explain why everyone was already pretending, because they were prepared for micheal to come. But then again walt could have told them if he is one of them hmmm.....

I think it was an Other operating from the Pearl hatch. That is why they were able to make the screen go blank when Jack entered - they saw him on the monitor. The Others certainly seemed ready for Michael, despite pretending to be caught off guard!

That's a good point, they could've seen him, and quickly sent a warning up the tube! Would have to be very quick though.. They could have done it when he first entered the hatch..

oh yeah, that could explain why it started saying 'hello?' as soon as mike sat down... but we saw see mike messing with the cables?? maybe he twigged something and it sent off an alarm 'INCIDENT, INCIDENT' hehehe.... whilst we are on the topic what do you think the incident was?

I think it was more likley one of the Others who was communicating with Walt on the computer, and they were in the Pearl hatch watching Mihchael and everyone. They could have been acting on orders from someone like Ms Klugh, to direct Michael to the main camp.

but the pearl was covered by dirt, and by the plane and looked like no one had been down there for ages?

I'm sure that in the pearl there was a smouldering cigarette on the table, which could indicate that someone was down there recently.

But I think that there would be another way in and out of the Pearl anyway, like the back door to the Swan. In fact there could well be underground tunnels connecting all of the hatches to one another.

Since Zeke and his gang were waiting ready and waiting for Mike to show up so they could capture him alive ("We need him&quot I'm pretty sure the others were behind the instant messenger conversations. Drilling the idea into his head that he must come alone and not to tell anyone about the computer would certainly back up this idea.

I realise this is old now but i definatly think it was the others but not from the pearl. I mean, it could have equally been from another hatch, maybe the flame?

I've also been toying with the idea that it was all in Michael's head. I mean, how come Locke didn't come a running when the new siren went off(the siren that sounded when Michael got a message from 'Walt)? It would also explain how the writing would disspaear suddenly when Jack came in.

Yeah, I think it was definetly the others. When Michael asked where Walt was he/the others said: "when they take me out. there's huge rocks with a big HOLE in the middle by the beach. you'll know when you see." From when Michael saw Walt in "3 minutes" we know that Walt knows that they are pretending to be hillbillies ect "They're not who they say they are. They're pretending" So he wouldn't lead Michael there, as he was obvaisly being kept somewhere else.

I think it may be possible that he was imagining it, but since the description of the place was so acurate, I'm guessing he didn't, and it was the others. Perhaps they have controll over when the monitor shows it or not (like has been mentioned earlier in the thread)..
