This is what that old bag said to Michael about Walt. Does this mean that when he appeared to Shannon they knew about it then.

I thought that that's what she was refering to. But of course Mike doesn't know about all of this so won't have a clue what she is yalking about. Apart from the times with Shannon, have we seen Walt do this before?

I dont think so, apart from maybe the messages on the computer. Maybe before Walt crashed on the island he appeared to the members of Dharma/Hanso/Others and thats why they knew he was special. It hurts my head thinking about it

Or maybe the others heard Shannon telling Syid that she saw Walt, after all they were nearby as it was when Anna shot Shannon and Cindy 'dissappeard'. Maybe they were just watching this and either heard Shannon and Sayid or actually saw Walt appear to them.

Despite the fact that the others appeared to have a lot of information on our losties, Mrs Klugh didn't seem to know that Walt hadn't grown up with Michael. Isn't this a glaring hole in their knowledge?

I think she did know: she was actually repeating word for word what Susan's lawyer had said to Michael when he'd revealed his (totally understandable) lack of knowledge about Walt's first words, favourite food, etc. I think that was a deliberate repetition to show precisely how knowledgable she was about Michael and Walts' lives.

Michael looked quite disturbed by the comment. Are we to take it that Walt did appear to him? Maybe in dream, maybe whilst he was in hospital

*Wonders if we'll get another Mike flashback in season 3*

I've always thought it wierd. Why did Walt appear to Shannon and not Mike? My only conclusion is that Shannon was required [either by Walter, or 'them'] to die

Maybe he appeared to the most 'open' mind. Shannon was probably the youngest person left on the island and so may have been more suggestble. If you looks at things to do with paranormal activity, it tends to occur around teenagers and especially girls, and then as they grow up, paranormal activity reduces.
Maybe Michael is too logical to open his mind up to the possibility of a vision.
It is interesting that he didn't appear to Locke though as we know he is very capable of receiving visions

That's a good point MissPiggy. It would also explain why 'they'/or Walt had to use the computer i.e. something 'real' to draw him out...

It's probably the only time someones went off on a 'mission' and a 'vision' or 'dream' wasn't involved...

I would think so. Or perhaps they found out later?

Eitherway i think theyve always known that Walt was special..even pre-island. It's just that somethings happened [a 'development'] that they werent expecting. Perhaps Walt is sick..perhaps he had 'the' sickness? Seems possible seeing as Charlie suddenly pops up with the vaccine kit..seems like a rather hurried way to introduce such a plot devise..

Not sure...i would think that the Others already knew about Walt [aswell as all the losties]..since they probably helped make him special in the first place [pre-island]?

Also, [IMO] they mustve known he was special because they took him in such dramtic fashion [exodus].. ..they perhaps didnt know 'how' much he had developed or how much he could do...but im pretty sure they knew of his importance one way or another.

I see it slightly differently..i reckon Walt appeared to Shannon for the simple reason that she was looking after Vincent at that time. I think Vincent is more important than it's been alluded to. I think Vincent, being Walt's 'best friend', is his anchor...he perhaps allows him to channel/project his thoughts. Thus he was able to manifest himself via Vincent to Shannon to deliver messages..

Well thats my theory anyway.
