"They'll never give you Walt"..This was touched upon by Ki in her discussion post and I thought this was such an important line..not least because it [perhaps] proves that pretty much everyone in Dharma knows about Walt..they may have some secrets but Walt is almost like thier biblical figure..their project..their No.1 creation even?
Which in turn means that Walt is key to their survival or battle or whatever they need him for. I also think that this perhaps further illustrates that Walt was always made for this purpose, this destiny..to one day return to the island and use his abilities..or perhaps more likely is the possibility that Walt was 'created' at a time when Dharma and Hanso were still a working partnership..but since then things have changed and they are now at odd s with each other..but the Hanso foundation went ahead in bringing Walt to the island and Dharma [in their wisdom] have pre-emptively taken him back as they feel that he's their child and their creation and so if theyre not going to give him back to Hanso fnd, then they sure as hell aint going to give him back to Michael? Any thoughts?

Walt's a "special" kid as everyone keeps telling Michael and as Zeke told Jack, I'm sure that Henry meant a man-for-a-man trade between himself and Walt was never going to happen because he is nothing to "him" and is 100% expendable. What if they will trade but only for more "special" people?
The rest of the list for example, imagine Jacks face if Zeke showed up and said "Yeah we'll swap you a Walt for a Claire, an Aaron, a Jin, a Sun and a Boone" "Boone's dead" "Really? Oh ok then I'll take a Hurley and a Sayid instead of a Boone" ![]() |

When Henry said 'they'll never give you Walt' I think it could have a couple of meanings behind it.
On the face of it is does seem (like Mantis said) that Henry was referring him being traded for Walt - he doesn't think that he's worth enough to the Others to be traded for anyone at all, let alone Walt. But he also might be hinting at the fact that Walt is indeed special - either to Dharma or Hanso, and that Zeke and co. think that he is valuable to someone and so will hold him hostage until they get what they want for him. And it's interesting that you mention pretty much everyone involved with Dharma knows about Walt - perhaps Walt is considered to be an important person and his 'powers' are common knowledge throughout Dharma/Hanso, because they can be beneficial to them. And of course if Walt is a Dharma/Hanso creation then everyone will have heard about him.

Yeah..like you say Ki i would imagine that Walt was created or at least made special by them and so pretty much the whole company [or those involved in 'Project Walt'] would know about him and see him as their [dare i say] 'saviour' or shining light. [for exmaple] Say Nike have a new trainer that they have been working on for months/years and it incorporates groundbreaking technology that both helps someone to run faster and also supports the runners ankle to expert levels [for example]..i would imagine that the whole of the company would know about this trainer and everyone would be wating expectantly to see how well it sells..in fact they may have posters and prototpyes of it all around the companies HQ.. ...thats kinda how i see Dharma's relationship with Walt.. ![]()

Can you imagine!? lol But very nice Nike analogy though Going along with the theory that Walt is a creation of Dharma and an important one at that (if not the most important creation/project of theirs), then I can see practically every Hanso/Dharma employee knowing about him like you suggested. Even if they weren't involved in the 'Walt project' directly, then it's most probable that they would have heard about it in some way. And it's an interesting remark that they 'would be wating expectantly to see how well it sells' - as if Hanso/Dharma could have a lot riding on the success of Walt, and more than just money and fame are at stake.

If they have Walt and it is for a purpose I wonder if they will ever finish with him. I mean will there ever come a time that they don't need Walt. We suspect that they still have Alex after 16 years. Is this because she is still useful or is it because she was of no use, but chose to still keep her and not give her, her freedom.
I suppose I'm wondering if Walt is now destined for a lifetime with the others or if he escapes on the run from them. |

In case anyone is interested in a C4 viewers thoughts, here are my 5 p worth.
I don't read it as "they'll never give you Walt in exchange for me" but rather "they'll never give you Walt, period". Just because of the way it was said. There was no self-pity, self-hatred, "look whats become of me, I have my dressing changed by a second class spinal surgeon" in that statement. Up to that point he had remained silent. This was just too important not to say. So I'd say Walt is No.1 on the list of good people, and no prize can be high enough.
