Mr Widmore probably set the whole Demsond crashing on the island thing up. He is probably one of HF's affiliates (like Christian and Mr Paik, perhaps?)

Also, is it any coicidence that Des also used to be in the army..just like Kelvin, the (many? of) the others, Sayid, Hurleys buddy..

You're right the army must be involved with so many of it's officers on/near the island at one stage or another. Mr Paik's also very influencial like Mr Widmore, wouldn't be surprised if they knew each other, and Christain's been central to too many flasbacks to just be involved as Jack's dad, looks like the hand of Hanso streches far and wide...

It could well be that the likely suspects (aka those invloved in Hanso Foundation/Dharma's web of 'deceit'/influence) are:

US Army/Gvt
Mr Paik
Christian
Widmore

Now perhaps not all of them are on the same side? Perhaps some are Dharma and some are HF (if any at all)?
