I dont agree with your last point about the 'person who made this 'assumption' having to be incorrect'. For one thing i reckon it was Radzinski (and Kelvin) who drew the map and he/they seemed to know alot..also he/they probably were one of them (Dharma/whoever built the hatches) and so i tend to trust the credibility/accuracy of that map personally.

However credible that map appeared, it was also fairly incomplete. It seemed to me that it was someone with a good amount of information and a powerful ability to work things out from what he knew, but there was also a lot of guesswork in there... not to mention the latin quotations. Perhaps the less certain hand is Kelvin's or possibly even Desmond's.
I didn't notice a concrete wall, so maybe you're right - I thought it was just an un-mined rock face. Perhaps it was a hatch that was filled in, rather like the base of the Swan, after some hideous disaster (or fake hideous disaster). |

It 'may' be incomplete..but then..how complete do we want it? I mean, maybe it's not incomplete..perhaps all the info on there was meant to be on there with no additions. Perhaps it wasnt painted 'blind' (so to speak)..perhaps everything on that wall was intented to look like it was reeled off the back of someones memory..
However, like i inferred, maybe you're right..maybe it is alot of incompeted guesswork? Perhaps Des did also contribute..afterall the "lift up your heart" bit is alot like his "lift it up" quote to Jack in MOSMOF.. And maybe, like you say, the hatch was filled in after some disaster. Infact this is why i think it was said to have been 'aborted' - due to the incident or sickness..? However i do believe that the hatch is currently active.

..windows, doors..maybe semantics? Essentially i think that both the hatch (and it's symbol) and the stonehenge type window structure represents a portal..a gateway if you will. This may sounds bizarre but i reckon that the others are able to cross to the otherside (where Yemi, Ana etc are) or something like that. ![]()

Its a good theory but this is why I dont think that was actually the aborted hatch:
![]() The doors are quite clearly simply fixed to the rock face, no cement to indicate there ever was anything there other than a set of fake doors. |
