Question Could John Locke and Ben Linus be BROTHERS?

Did John Locke's teen-mum really go through with the adoption and then later go on to meet and marry Roger Linus - and sadly die after giving birth to Ben??

Both Ben and John's mother's were called EMILY. John was a 50's baby and Ben mid to late 60's so their age gap would be about 10-15 years.

I know on some Lost sites the woman who plays Locke's mother [around the time of the kidney transplant] is refered to as his mother but IS her name Emily and is she refered to by that name or are we just making assumptions that she is his birth mother? If an island can be 'moved' by one man turining a frozen up rusty cog - isn't ANYthing possible...

Well it's plausible I suppose, but extremely unlikely on the grounds that Emily Linus apparently died in childbirth, and I can't really see how they could realistically write their way out of that one, and that Emily Locke, who is a DNA match to Locke according to the PI he hired, is alive and kicking at least as far on as 2004.

So it's a strong no for me, but you never know, I guess.

Welcome, by the way.

It's an interesting suggestion, although like Him I believe them to be two seperate women.

The Private dectective that Locke hires tells John that his mothers name is Emily Locke. She also has paralells with the young version we see give birth to him in Cabin Fever. That is, the older Emily claims that Locke was "immaculately conceived" and "special..part of a design" (Deus Ex Machina - Season 1), and we indeed discover that Locke's birth was shrouded in mystery (possibly he was immaculately conceived), and that he was indeed special and part of a plan, from birth (Alpert keeping tabs on him etc - Cabin Fever 4.11). So I think Emily Locke's delusion has great foundation, and even though she may not understand the exact nature of Locke's 'arrival' into the world, she does know that he is special.

As for Ben's mom (Emily Linus), she is distinctly different in nature..she is also played by another actress (Michael Emerson's wife, as it goes).

So I think the 'Emily' thing is just to show us the great parallels between the two main protagonists. One could argue that only 'science' divides them.

But yeah, as you say, you never know..we have the notion of time-loops and Dalai Lamaesque reanimation, so who knows..it's always good to keep an open mind, I believe.

Welcome to the LC, btw
