Time difference in S1

Back in the old days on C4, I was convinced that the flashbacks we saw didn't make time sense. I can't remember who but someone joined me and found mistakes too. My main one was the fact that Shannon was 18 when her Dad died, then 20 when she crashed. Yet Jack fixed, married and divorced Sarah in the same 2 year period. I know he's annoying but that's quick!!
Now we've seen the time travel thing maybe we haven't seen what we've thought we have in the flashbacks right from the beginning, a lot of the time we had trouble working out what order they were in and fixing them in some sort of order, perhaps their flashbacks weren't as straight forward as we thought.
I hope this makes sense and hopefully you can add more proof/ideas to back it up.

so... are you trying to say the flashbacks are 2 years difference? or that the island makes them grow up or something?

I'm trying to say(notvery well!!) that when Shannon's Dad died, it was the same crash as Sarah, Jack chose to save Sarah. In Shannon's flashback she was 18, which was 2 years before she crashed. Yet I found it hard to believe that Jack managed to meet, fix, marry and divorce Sarah in such a short space of time.
Oh on the same episode Des met Jack at the stadium, how long was he in the hatch for?? I've got 3 years in my mind but I'm not too sure, as there's so much to remember, I could be mistaken!!

yes des said he was in the hatch for 3 years i swear. which wouldn't make any sense.
wow i can't believe i never realised this.

that must mean time goes faster on the island?

I'd forgotten that it bugged me back then, I suppose it was back in S2, but since Des and the time travel thing,. which I still don't get 100% I remembered questioning the timing.
Like I said it was the fact that Jack did so much in 2 years which made me question it, so was time different in the real world too??? More recently when Hurley heard that radio and mentioned about the different timeline, I think it was Glenn Miller?? Could this have been a big clue and we missed it!!!!
I'm sure we'll think of more examples if we think of the different flashback cross overs.

It's possible the car crash was just after she turned 18, and the plane crash when she was approaching 21. Could be almost 4 years.
