Sorry if this has been posted before.
At the end of the 3rd season, in the FF don't we see Jack with a drinking problem? Now, I was wondering, has he had a drinking problem all along? In the Pilot episode, we see him on the plane, with his drink, and when the air hostess asks him if he likes his drink, he responds 'yes'....and she says, 'that's not a very strong reaction', which he replies 'It's not a very strong drink'. She gives him mini bottles of Vodka on the plane as we see. All that I was thinking, was maybe he's always had this drinking problem? It could be the reason that on the island, (well in my eyes anyway) he's very nervy, asks lots of questions, and is very impulsive and violent at times. Maybe because he's not had a drink for a long time? Just my thought.

I think he basically inherited it from Christian. There seems to be a history of drinking in that family. That said Jack is a very strung up man and so he's impulsive and violent basically as a character trait rather than because of the drink.
By the way is that one of my avatars? ![]()

yeah hes susceptible to alchoholism because of his dad, poor guy. Scary to see how similar jack and christian are in the ffs. Both are basically broken men.
