White Rabbits seem to appear a far amount in Lost and the Others seem to have a supply of them somewhere in their bases. So I decided to have a look around and see what Wikipedia (source of all knowledge) had to say on the subject.
There were only a few that make any sense for us to use.
Yeo-Thomas was kept Prisonner in WW2 and proved very..... hard to break. Like Sawyer while he was captured So maybe the final WR, the sculptors, links to the statue people. (The Teddy-Dragers spring to mind here) |

I think that the most relevant link is the Alice in Wonderland reference - as you mentioned Alice chases the White Rabbit just as Jack chased Christian in.."White Rabbit". He even references his own actions by using that very metaphor (most unlike Jack to be so self-aware!).
Lost has also dabbled into Alice in Wonderland's sibling by using the "Through the Looking Glass" parallels in it's third season. I think that you could argue that the LOST island is a bit like another world where the 'impossible' happens. You could also look at the rabbits in regards to Ben's white rabbit with the number 6 (I think it was a 6..or 15?) painted on it's side. To me, this suggests that the Others had been running fertility tests on rabbits (known for their breeding), perhaps to 'guinee pig' their human fertility treatments - a known problem on the island, perhaps associated with Ben's own scarred guilt at killing his mother at 'birth' - perhaps Ben is subconsciously 'magic boxing' those demons..
