Meh, I felt this one was pretty much a good waste on the most part. The first thing I took issue with was the flashback, by past experience I had pigeon holed Bernard and Rose as dull background characters. Were they worthy of a flashback? Not in my opinion no, and now that theyve had one I hope it's that last one, they arent even major characters! The whole build an SOS thing was clearly not going to work anyway, it felt a bit of a letdown on the whole. This is the kind of thing I'd expect early Season 1 not end of Season 2.
Bernie's scenes were wholly pointless but I did like the idea of Locke losing faith, only to have Rose remind him if he doesnt carry on sitting around pushing the button he'll lose the use of his legs. Thanks Rose. I'm no fan of Jate but even their scenes were a relief from the Ronard nonsense. Disappointing/10. The last 10 minutes were actually quite interesting, everything from Locke's last scene onwards. And at last Michael returns! And interupts another Jate mistake! But what was he running from? He was panting quite a bit, I'm quite worried about him now. |

In all honesty, I enjoyed this episode more than I expected to. The most interesting part of the episode, imo, was the end with all the 'healing island' stuff (did you notice the myriad of crutches at the healer's place). It was good to actually see locke sitting on the beach again, realising that he and rose have something in common.
Oh and btw, does anyone know why AL is suddenly inhabiting the hatch, apparently giving permission regarding access to the armoury (with Locke's lock on it)?

Personally i thought this was a superb episode! I never really expected there to be a Bernard/Rose centric eppy and this one was a real treat. Not as good as last weeks, but strangely it wasnt far behind in my opinion.
Where to start? Ok..As Him mention the whole 'healing island' thing was a great insight i think. I had thoughts that the island had special properties that made it able to affect people..or that it's properties enabled Hanso/Dharma to manipulate it's special properties. But this just confirmed that for me. So now we [pretty much know] that the island's magnetic energy/properties are special in that in that through the right channels [eg mediums? etc] it can be harnessed in order to heal people [so is THIS how they survived the crash?] and perhaps to do other things to them. Basically, im now certain in my belief that the island 'heightens' peoples natural abilities - for example it propably makes Walt's naturally gifted 'mind' even stronger. Another thing i found interesting was that Isaac [the healer] seemes to notice something 'in Rose'. He seemed shocked [a bit like when Mr. Malkin read Claire's palms!] as if he sensed something about her. Im thinking that Isaac is funded by Hanso and they pay him to inform them of 'special' people so they can use, monitor or even study them. I have a feeling that this is what happened with Rose..Isaac contacted the Hanso foundation claiming that he sensed something really special about Rose [meaning that she has some kind of naturally heightened ability perhaps as yet untapped] and so they arranged for her to come to the island. I think the fact that Bernie got 3 calls after he went to Isaac, points towards somekind of Hanso foundation string pulling. Also, i loved when Locke was doubting the value of the hatch and his was finally lettig go and the BOOM! Rose, in the most clever way, lets him know that SHE knows that he was in a wheelchair before the crash. This is a vital point as for the first time someone [other thamn those he's told, eg Boone] knows that he couldnt walk until he crashed on the island. This seemed to give Locke a sense of renewed purpose and vigour..and it also explains why Rose feels/knows that the island is the thing that healed her..because she saw Lockes condition before the crash and compares it to Lockes 'healed' condition now and relates it to her own. So for all of this time she has known about Locke and for all of this time she has firmly believed that the island has healed her. And she is right. Or at least shes right in the fact that the islands properties have healed her..whether this was Hanso.Fnd manipulated or not remains to be seen. ON a side note, i had always wanted there to be a scene between Rose and Locke..and now i know why they kept this back for so long..it all makes perfect sense now!! I must admit, i also liked the way Jack has no fear when calling out the Others. Just like in THP, i was really behind him with regards to this. It was a strange decision to take Kate along..well at first it was and then i realised that it was partly down to oneupmanship over Sawyer..and not just because he believed that the Others dont want Kate. I hated the Jate moment. Urrgh ..although an important point came out of this..the FACT that Jack is a better shot than Kate [who has hunting skills]..this tells me that Jack has had previous experience with guns..alot of experience by the looks of things as he got that rope in one go..and it wasnt luck. I think this perhaps shows that there is another side to Jack that hasnt yet been shown..perhaps this is linked to his tattoo..did he go off the rails at one point? Going back to Bernie and Rosie for a second..i truely loved their flashbacks..it almost brought a tear to my eye at one point..yes..i admit it. So much more to discuss..but for now, i'll end on Michael..YAY, he's back!! Imissed him rotten and im glad that he's still alive..if only barely. I cant wait to find out what his story is and where he's been! Roll on next week! ![]()

I was half expecting another fast paced, action packed episode last night but after Lockdown and Dave it makes sense to slow the pace down a bit; the calm before the storm no doubt.
I thought the Rose/Bernard flashback was lovely! I thought that they had been married for years, but they had only known each other a short while...even the very first scene of their flashback - when Bernard was advising Rose about the car in the snow - gave off the impression that they were already together. The scene with Locke and Rose was probably my favourite one in that episode - it was so good! Locke had given up on the hatch and was feeling pretty sorry for himself, only for Rose to come along and re-ignite his faith in the island and his sense of purporse. I think discovering that side of Rose has made Locke feel a bit less alone on the island - he may have doubted himself because he believed that the island was special, but know knows it's not just him. And Rose's talk helped Locke finally remember the blast door map and he drew it pretty well from memory! And the Henry Gale scene - when he smiled to himself as Locke shouted desperately through the door - was just plain creepy! Brilliant to watch, but freaky still the same! I was a bit dissapointed that more wasn't learnt about him though. And he didn't seem at all surprised when Jack talked about exchanging him for Walt/Michael - as if he knows what's going to happen with them and why the Others want them. To be honest I was half expecting him to say to Jack something along the lines of 'don't bother - they will never exchange me for Walt. They couldn't care less what happened to me.' But interesting points about Issac possibly being related to Hanso - he did seem a tad scared when he 'sensed' Rose (similar to how Mr. Malkin behaved with Claire). So Malkin could have reported Claire, Issac reported Rose, someone from the hospital reported Locke when he went in for the kidney op? I'll have to have more of a think about this. And urgh - Jate in a net I can't believe they wasted time on that when more Locke/Rose interaction could have been shown.Overall it wasn't as good as Lockdown or Dave, but a solid episode nonetheless ![]()

It looks like Micheal has got the sickness he looked very pale.
This episode wasnt great for some reason Lost cant pull off to great epis in a row except for 'one of them', 'maternity leave'. I have no interest in Bernard or Rose and at the business end of series 2 I think this was a waste of time. They definately need Ana Lucia to start kincking arse again how boring has she got lately? Made me laugh about the community they've built and how comforatble they are, the science/faith bit sort or reared its head again as well. Cant wait for next week things should start getting interesting. |

I shall keep this very brief for now, as I need to go out in 2mins
However this was in my opinion (Note I hate with a passion IMO) one of the classic episodes of this season. I am sick of people slagging the likes of Dave and SOS just as they are different from normal episodes!! I really need to look into it, but Hanso and Life extension projects must fit in somewhere with Electromagnetism and the Healing Energy. Oh and Michael has the sickness, did anyone see his face?? |

I like the variety between episodes, but with variety you're bound to have at least one you dont like. Some people say the Jin/Sun ones are boring but for me this one was dull. I liked parts of it of course, I just could have done without Bernard hogging the screen on a hopeless venture. Whatd odd though is that if the faith healer actually healed all those people using healing energy from the earth then why does Rose think if she leaves she wont be healed anymore? Personally I dont think she or Locke (or Jin for that matter) are healed at all and that something on the island is simply keeping them functioning for some purpose. Is this also why Charlie pulled through the hanging ordeal? Though it its healing abilities are really that miraculous why did it not try and preserve Boone or the Marshal who took quite a while to die? Michael's bound to look a bit ill, he's been alone in the jungle for ages with no food and I'm guessing no sleep. Since we have never actually seen anything of this "sickness" we can't really assume Mike has it because we dont know the alleged symptons just people saying "they got sick" and leaving it at that. If anything I do think the "sickness" is the visions everyone is having, I also think Danielle was the one who actually had the visions causing her to kill the rest of her team. |

I'm not sure Michael has the sickness, but personally I feel he has been captured by the others and maybe drugged in the same way that Claire was. Perhaps the others let him go simply to get Jack and Kate off of their territory. It didn't seem like Jack had any intention of leaving.
Also I remember Jack saying that they didn't want Kate and thats why he took her with him. Does this make Kate on of the bad people. Or not good enough to be taken? For whatever reason she is of no use to the others. Like already mentioned, I loved the scene between Rose and Locke. Her response when Locke quoted Jack as saying his legs would take 6 weeks to heal. "We both know it will be sooner than that". This showing that she knows Locke is fully aware of the islands healing powers, and that he knows she is too. I like the idea that they shared a secret, a silent secret that each were ill, although in different ways before they reached the island. The question I have now is, is the islands healing powers instantaneous which the crash would signify. Or do you need to be there sometime for those powers to work. From the time it's taking Lockes legs to heal this time around, I would say you have to be there a short while. If thats the case, were the survivors on the island for sometime, before they woke up? |

I have to admit I only saw half the episode as I fell asleep but I was disapointed. I heard the airport scenes and Michael's return were good though.
To me it was a waste. I generally felt that Rose and Bernard had been together years and years and that is why she was so desperate to see him again and had faith that he was still alive. All that shattered and they only recently met, Rose convienently has an illness and is dying (cue island healing again). I did like Rose and Bernard but went off them last night. Rose for the "lets ask Jack" I mean what is he the queen of sheba? And Bernard for acting like a complete jerk with trying to build a sign. I mean even bald guy with the bermuda shorts almost cursed.

I thought it was a really good episode as they all are and it was good to have a nice calm one after all yhe action thats been happening they're trying to give our brains a rest. I was nearly crying when rose told bernie that she was dying and it was sweet how locke and rose shared a moment. I think micheal has been drugged like claire as snowy owl said, i think they gave micheal back as jack said he wanted a man for a man, and thats why they got micheal back! Over all i liked this episode it cant be manic on the island all the time, everyone needs a break!

For my money i would guess that the likes of: Christian Shephard Mr Malkin Isaac have island links/have referred people to the island. And then there's the likes of Mr Paik [imo] from Hanso's business directory/links.

On the other hand, Bernards attempt to propose to some cheesy musac was probably the first toe nail curling scene in Lost ever. But they rescued it beautifully when she said I'm dying.
