Default Will Jack give up on claiming Kate?

So - now that he has seen her canoodling with Sawyer will he finally give up hope of getting her to like him. We all know that Jack finds it damn near impossible to let go of anything and how hard he fought to keep Sarah (to some sort of an extent) so I don't think that, if all three of them manage to escape, he will just let her be with Sawyer without butting into the relationship.

Plus their threeway ( :P ) relationship is apparently one of Lost's key pulling powers so I doubt the writers/producers would want to alienate the Jack/Kate fans.

Well, if he gets his way and really does get off the island then I guess that means he has given up. Plus the fact that he has tried to save Kate and Sawyer shows that he might even be willing to let Sawyer have her in a way. He sees getting off of the island more important than beingwith Kate, but still sees her life of more importance to Ben's - whick isn't surprising since Ben is on the "other team"

So I hope he hasn't given up, but it's looking like he has.

I'm still not convinced that Jack cares about Sawyer's safety - he didn't mention him once in the radio conversation (unless I've forgotten) and has barely mentioned him during their captivity - I think he just wants to save Kate and he knows that he probably won't get let off the island after this kidney stunt he's pulled.

Default Will Jack give up on claiming Kate?

I was reading a 'bloggers review' of "I Do" the other day and he said something very true:
"Love triangles are a lot more fun to watch than 1 on 1 relationships"

With that in mind I don't think it'll end this way. Either it'll all cool off and they'll become 3 'singles' or it'll revert to a triangularismistc thingy...

Or maybe we'll focus on another lurve triangle (Claire, Kate and Sun) oh huh, it's gunna happen. Mark my words :P

Re: Jack. I think he's all about the self-sacrifice thing. 'Specially when it comes to his relationship with women. Though I know he can be a rather ego-driven fella, in the end I think he will 'let go' like he did with Sarah (albeit, trapped on a mysterious island, in a cage..)

Although he didn't say "Oh yeah, Sawyer too." I think that was because of his ego. Having see Kate and Sawyer together he will know she won't leave without James, Jack just didn't want to say it out loud...

I would disagree with this blogger. Triangles IMO can get very tiresome after a while, like in soaps they just change the three characters and always have them. I like to see a relationship build from first date to marriage over the course of a few years.

I think Jack will remain to have feelings for Kate, probably forcing her into a guilt trip.

I understand that point of view (and I hope to gawd we don't got back to the triangle) but triangles are more 'eventful' than 1-on-1 relationships. I mean there's more drama for a start...

..But yeah, I hope they're done - it bores me now.

Agreed. I don't have anything against a love triangle - they're quite entertaining, but this ones gone on for a very long time now. As far as my memory goes I can remember it going on in Whatever the Case May Be, that 1x12 So a pretty long time now!

Back on subject: I don't think Jack's given up yet. I don't think he truely believes the others will let him go home for starters - not after the stunt he pulled in I Do. Therefore, he thinks there's a chance he could still see Kate in the future. Which if he does, I don't think he'll leave her all to Sawyer. As it's been said and proven - he's not very good at letting go (including in relationships).
