If I didn't want to offend the Shannonites I'd have just put "good character / like her" and "good character / love her"

As you all know I think Shannon was a great character! I loved how her character had so much hidden depth to her that she truly was a destroyed woman when she boarded the plane (hence the bitchy personna). However as we saw her on the island after Boone died we saw a character who had really changed.

Looking after Vincent was a main thing that I liked about her as she was really determined to do a good job at it. Plus people say she did nothing well she translated Danielle's transmission, helped with the papers Sayid had, looked after Vincent and was insistent on finding Walt even after she had to deal with the death of her brother. Whereas other characters do next to nothing.

I think considering most people didn't like her I believe most of those people still shed a tear through the whole speech to Sayid in the rain about how no one believes her and everyone thinks she's useless just before she died. I thought the emotion was perfect. I also think that it's ashame that she wasn't used more. In Season 2 all she did was see Walt and have her flashback episode. We didn't learn about the au pair, the marriage and don't you think it would have been intresting for her to realise that Jack didn't operate on her dad? I really hope we get to find out more of her story through flashbacks. Any appearance would be good enough for me!

I did but that was for poor, poor Sayid - I already knew she was about to die.

As opposed to what she did do - it seems that she refused the money to save her pride from being bruised but surely conning her own step-brother (who she knew was in love with her) is a disgusting sort of pride to hold on to.

Hmm, yeah. She didn't try her best in real life, and conning Boone was wrong, but on the island, she began to realise that if she wanted something, she had to work to get it. At the end, she saw Walt and was genuinley worried for him. She tried her best to get him back as she beleived he was on the island.

I know this was to AP but I found it sad for Sayid too. He loved Shannon, and after he said "I love you, and I beleive you" even thought he clearly beleives only in what he can see (as stated in S3) he trusted Shannon, and he isn't all that eager to lay that much trus in someone.

It was so sad when Shannon died as the only person he could connect with on the island was dead.

Yeah - what Lostie said. Esspecially considering that he had only just managed to (possibly) but his past behind him and find happiness for Shannon to die and ruin everything.

Yeah she did try when she was on the island (after a while) and I was impressed that she tried to find Walt right at the end. Unfortunatly the writers cut that too short for it to outweigh the bad in my opinion.

I think the writers never bothered with Shannon. They gave up on her after Hearts and Minds.

It was only because Naveen and Maggie enjoyed working together that they pushed for a relationship between Sayid and Shannon as it would be one of the most strangest relationships that could happen - an iraqi solider and the spolit brat.

This relationship brought the best out of both of them over the late half of season 1 and Shannon became a good character that you wanted to see more of (at that time we knew sod all about her apart from using Boone)

I still like the spoilt brat version. I thought her scene with Sawyer was fab and there should have been more. I know some people question Maggie's acting ability whether she could pull off the female Sawyer on a regular basis but if you have seen the range she has already done in her career I think shes a good actress for someone so young (she was the youngest on set bar Walt).

When the producers wrote Shannon out (a decsion made at the end of season 1), JJ was not 100% happy about it I heard and Maggie herself said there was no point her coming back unless her character was given a decent script.

She only appeared in 3 episodes (and some deleted scenes) but we got an glimpse of her life and what made her the way she is. Boone didn't really think about Shannon when his mum offered him a job so I'm glad she used the dork. We did see her as an au pair in the deleted scenes on the DVD in France so there was still possible ways to go storywise for her.

I mean Shannons was married at some point - to who???? Yet we get to see Kates boring marriage!!

The other interesting point is they choose to make her see Walt - why her? Then it made me think - Walt was always going to leave because of the problem with Walt actor getting too old for the role and Harold had told the producers he wanted to scale down his involvement with Lost (cue missing half the season then leaving at the end).

My guess is this story is not entirely over, whether we get to see Shannon again will detemine the path of Michael/Walt story I believe.

I really hope that we see her again in flashback or as a vision but Maggie is doing a few films so its unlikely she would return for a while at least.

Yeah but I guess I compare her to Boone who tried his whole time on the island to prove that he was useful as opposed to Shannon who just tried near the end. Although I did like the scene where she was trying to decode the map with Sayid and stormed off saying that she was useless. I felt sorry for her then.

thats where the path of the joke went but the original "tree" remark was based on the standstill character of Kate.
