"Walt's" Comic Book

Okay, not really an interest thread in the slightest but here goes.

Walt said he found the Sci-Fi magazine/comic book on the island - and automatically one would assume it belonged to one of the Survivors - possibly the children in the Tail End?. But it was in Spanish. Now either it belonged to Ana Lucia or Hurley - or it was ALREADY on the island.

Perhaps it was planted by the Others? Why?, well because they knew Walt could project things through mental thought perhaps. Quite a Sci-Fi based view that Walt could "magically create" Polar Bears but we know the kid is special. Perhaps it belonged to Ben way back when - somehow not eroding over the past 20 years.

Assuming it did NOT belong to Ana or Hurley, it is possible that a "non-descending" adult or child from Spain or Mexico spoke Spanish - in turn owning the magazine on Flight 815. I say this because someone who does not speak Spanish is unlikely to have such a comic book. However no one in the Survivors' camp claimed ownership of it - or perhaps they did not know it was found.

The point of this thread - I do not really know. But the comic seemed to be focused upon in this S1 episode, almost as though it had some relevance. The images in the comic also seemed strangely similiar to the island - Polar Bears, Scientists, a Dome/Snowglobeetc.

Is the comic relevant or a forgotten and irrelevant Season 1 item.

I agree with you with the fact that comic book did seem pretty important, it was shown quite a bit, and usually on the Polar Bear too... maybe it was planted by the Others, but tbh ever since it was burned we haven't seen it again... maybe the magazine itself won't come up again, but it may be mentioned, i.e. Walt's power to make things from something he sees, i.e. the Polar Bear from the magazine.

Yes I doubt it is much of an issue in the grand scheme of things but I thought it may have been worth exploring.

Well I think it goes without saying once burned we would never see it again. But what if it appears in a flashback? Now that would be interesting if indeed it did belong to Ben or Annie for example.

Yeah it's the sort of little thing that might crop up that we didn't think anything of when we saw it first... it'll be interesting if it does appear again, and how...

As far as I am aware, Spanish and Mexican are the same or at the very minimum, VERY similiar. Mexicans always refer to their language as Spanish and not Mexican. I think the only difference is Mexicans have their own 'slang' terms.
