Lightbulb Sayid's Echo of crime

Just a thought but if ever there was a way to expose Sayid for the sadist he;s become then surely this is it:

Both Sayid and Eko seemed to have developed an uncanny nack of unearthing the truth this season.

For example, Sayid was (ultimately) right about Henry being Fenry (one of them) and Eko (though he didnt admit to it) strongly alluded to the fact that he also knew Henry was a fake and also that he knew Michael was the real murderer of Ana and Libby (both great scenes btw).

However, whilst Eko takes the moral path and doesnt physically abuse those who he knows are lying, Sayid prerred to beat the living daylights out of a man based upon his own suspicion. Yes, Sayid may have been right about Henry being Fenry..but so was Eko when he cut off his 2 little beards (representing the 2 others that he killed) and presented them to Henry in that 'knowing' fashion. Similarly when he helped Mike mop up Libby's blood, (imo) he knew then that it was Mike who murdered them..but he did not rip Michaels head off..

I think it's interesting thinking back to the different approaches that these two men (Sayid and Eko) have taken on the basis of suspicion.

Well done Eko, you the man, man!

a) Sayid didn't rip Michael's head off and

b ) If Eko knew that Michael had murdered Ana and Libby then why would he risk putting every other survivor at risk of being murdered again? Surely this is not morality, in fact it seems to be the opposite to me. Eko put the secrecy of one man (perhaps he viewed Michael cleaning the blood almost as being in confessional with him) above the safety of many, many others.

I think Sayid was more angry because he was still mourning Shannon!

Yeah both did what they thought was right, plus I think b-r-a-d is right that Sayid had trouble controlling his emotions due to Shannon's death. I miss Shannon...

I think in terms of temperment Eko is more cool and collected.

In terms of strategy I'd be more inclined to turn to Sayid. As for Eko, well I'd like to probe his mind a little more.

a) I didnt mean that. I meant that Sayid all but ripped Fenry's head off when he had no hard evidence to suggest that he was an Other..or rather, Shannons killer. Im just saying that he should take a leaf out of the Magnificent Eko's book and not inflict his acts of violence upon those whom he suspects but has no proof to back-up that suspicion.

Eko is a priest dont forget. (imo) He knew Mike was guilty just like he knew Fenry was an Other..but he didnt 'let on' because he's a man of God..a peaceful God and so Eko was being very moral imo, by not using his suspicion (no matter how confident he was that Mike was guilty) to pass judgement on the man without firm proof. Eko is all about choice and letting people find their own way through his words. He does not impose himself on people nor does he preach to those who do not want to hear it. Mike was fishing and Eko gave him a line..but he did not cross that line by ratting Mike out..because afterall, he could have been wrong. Sayid can learn a lesson from this great man, imo

Very true and it is this which all but saves Sayid from an all but indefensible position right now (despite being 'right').

However, we should also remember that Eko had just lost his friend and confident, Ana..not to mention Libby who he had formed a bond with for the best part of 68 days. In fact some might argue that those 3 had been through alot more than the front-enders and so their bond was stronger. ..And yet..despite losing his 2 friends and suspecting that Mike was the murderer, Eko did not slam his fists on ram his boots into the defenceless man, like Sayid did with Fenry..

Eko, stayed true to his path of redemption and instead of beating Mike to a pulp he helped him..he offered him a shoulder..Eko truely is a good man. Well done sir!
