Where it all began
This for me is teh turning point of Lost from the mystery of Season 1 to its latest incarnation. This was the first episode we learn about Dharma and teh hatches.

Where it all began
Yep. Suddenly, we had modern Humanity as a force on the island. The Orientation film gave us some ideas, perpectives, and a grounding for s2. Also lots more interest and intruige, what werre the other sstations?
  And the best part? The way Lockes flashbacks and scenes in the hatch interwove so beautifully. Bliss.
