We're BACK! Server Transfer Completed

WE'RE BACK!! That's right, they can't keep us down, the LC is too strong..not even parallel Universes can hold us down

Yup, as some of you know, the LC did a 'Desmond' and existed in two places at once. There were TWO versions of the LC for a period..one still stuck on the hold server, whilst the other was on the new server.

The transfer itself went well, but other technical issues raised it's ugly head. However, that appears to be over now.. and my head hurts.

The good news (apart from the site being back online) is that we're now on a far better performing server than before. This should mean faster loading pages and better peformance etc. However, I'd give it a couple of days for everything to re-align itself before that is realised.

The new server also means that I can now take ROCK SOLID backups of the site - which means in the event of the worst case scenario (the server crashing etc), I will have solid back-ups with which to reboot the site. These backups will be taken every day. Piece of mind guaranteed..

Cos trust me..the worst can and usually will happen - as those of you who were around last May will testify. So this move was crucial, especially now that we're growing and using more resources, the move was needed.

That said, some of you might still be having problems - if so you can do one of the following:

1) Post your problem in HD and i'll look into it when I can.
2) email me using admin[@]lostcommunity.co.uk (remove the brackets)
3) Ride it out, as the site may still be propagating in some regions/parts of the world.

Finally, I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who provided me with feedback etc during those desolate hours of the site being down/screwed-up/buggered. Speaking of which, we now have a new backup board for times of crisis and downtime: lostcommunitybackup :: Index feel free to save it in your bookmarks/favourites. Don't ask me what happened to the other one, it just disappeared

Some pages appear to be timing out. I'm hopeful that this is only the tail-end of the propagation (very much like finding a "Constant" actually) and that it will improve as the days go by.

However, please continue to report "error" pages and give feedback in the Helpdesk/Feedback sections, that way I can keep on top of things and look into them ASAP. Cheers all!

Right, I think we're finally good to go. There were a few more issues yesterday evening (inability to log-in/out, post, view pages, profiles etc) - I've identified the problem and it was due to a conflict with one of our most intensive modifications and the new server. The server has since been restarted and the code checked, and many of you have noticed that the problem has evaporated.

Just in time for the return of UK Lost.

*Touchwood* it will be smooth sailing from here on in, but in the event of any issues, as usual please let us know via the Help Desk (you're welcome to test posts/features in the Test forum, but if you do have a problem, please post it in HD, as we wont always check the Test forums for member problems).

So, the LC is battle scarred but not out..and hopefully you'll see the benefits of all the changes over the past week or so, in the coming days and weeks.
