Exclamation Site Changes

Hello everyone,

Just to let you know that i'm currently doing some work on the frontend of the site. Basically i'm adding a portal (or 'website') to the frontend - this means that the portal will reside at Lost Community and the forum will, as ever, reside at Lost Community Forums - Official Spoiler-free Lost Fansite - Powered by vBulletin. The forums will not change or be moved in anyway - they will be where they always have been. This may seem different to you as previously I had a redirect at Lost Community, which meant that whenever anyone tried to access the site from this root address, they were redirected to Lost Community Forums - Official Spoiler-free Lost Fansite - Powered by vBulletin - where the forums are located.

Again, the only thing that has changed is that we now have a portal at the frontend of the site (bear in mind it's still under construction and will take shape over the next couple of days).

The portal will, I hope, allow the LC to evolve into more of a 'fansite' as opposed to just being a 'forum'. I think it's important for the long-term vision of the site that we try to become more ecclectic in our approach and maximise the resources (features etc) we have available, whilst remaining true to our common passion - LOST.

Some of you will have noticed that some of our forums, such as the Heroes, Doctor Who/Torchwood, Fringe, Music, Movies and Gaming forums have their own style. As previously mentioned this is to gives those sections their own identities so that appear as their own 'rooms', so to speak.

This is all part of the vision to keep LOST at the core of the sites focus and direction, but to also embrace and celebrate our other interests and passions. After all, who doesn't like Movies?

Back to the portal - Over the next day or two I will be moulding it until I have it how I want it. The general idea is to keep the site forum driven but to also give people a 'snapshot' of whats going down by also having a website presentation at the frontend.

If you want to go straight to the forums upon your visit then just ensure that you update your bookmarks/favourites with Lost Community Forums - Official Spoiler-free Lost Fansite - Powered by vBulletin or Lost Community Forums - Official Spoiler-free Lost Fansite - Powered by vBulletin. However, it's worth checking on the portal every now and then

Again, these changes should be painless and shouldn't inconvenience you.

If you are experiencing any problems or issues logging in or our, or are coming across error pages etc since your last visit, then please let me know here.

Much thanks

Please note, the portal is not yet complete, i've still got alot of work to do on it. More updates to be posted in this thread (including an explanation of the new Article system).

Feel free to post any opinions or feedback in the helpdesk.

Portal begining to take shape.

I've also added a 'Home' link on the forum navigation bar - this will take you to the portal in a click. It's located on the far left navigation bar, as highlighted in this image:
