I've just installed Social Bookmarks.
What are social bookmarks? Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to store, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web pages on the Internet with the help of metadata. In a social bookmarking system, users save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, and can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, shared only inside certain networks, or another combination of public and private domains. The allowed people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or via a search engine. - Wikipedia In a nutshell social bookmarking allows you to share threads and posts of interest with other people who may or may not come across the information. Many of you will have heard of "Digg", "Technoratti" and "Furl" - these are all leading social booking sites. They are very similar to search engines (like 'Google', for instance). How does this effect me? Well, if you choose to you can now submit ANY thread on this forum to any one (or all) of the top social bookmarking sites. On the top of every thread you will now notice a new 'Linkback' drop-down panel: ![]() Listed underneath the 'Bookmark & Share' header you will see 4 Bookmark icons/links. If you want to share a thread simply click on one of these icons and you will be automatically taken to a submit screen - all you have to do is write a brief description on what the thread is about and catagorise it (i.e Entertainment>TV) and clic submit. Other people who visit these bookmarking sites will now have a better chance of seeing the thread that you have just submitted. OR, you can simply submit a single post - the same principle applies as above, except that you will use one of the icons shown in the image below instead: ![]() This is by no means madatory, it's simply an option for those who wish to spread their own or other peoples threads/posts further afield, whilst helping to increase the expose of the LC. For example, you might find a recent theory on 'Jacob's toenail's' facinating - perhaps other people will too! So you might want to share it with those who may not necessarily come across our content. *Bookmarking sites require you to register - this is free and takes about 30 seconds. You are propted to sign in before you can submit a post/thread.
