Were you wrong about Paulo & Nikki?

Well they were perhaps the two most despised LOST characters in all of LOST history..but now that Pablo and Nikki are (most likely) gone, what are your thoughts on the pair?

More prescisely, are you sad to see them go? Are you sorry for the way you treated them (so to speak)? Do you have new found appreciation for them that you wish you afforded them before their tragic suffocation?

I liek them, i prefer them to people liek Locke, Sawyer and Hurley!

I don't get this. D'you think they became sympathetic characters or something (for some reason other than their horrible death, of course, which is universally nasty and unrelated to its victims)? I don't. I preferred them before they turned out to be diamond-obsessed murderers, personally.

Well yes,. they did become sympathetic. The creators gave them a story and some heart. I preferred that side of them rather than the decontextualised side which we were made to destest. I believe in giving characters a chance. Also im referring to the island Pablo and Nikki..not the pre-island chanracters. On the island we saw that they had begun to lose their pre-island mindsets..well, at least Pablo had. I think (ultimately) it's an endearing story personally.

I still don't get it... the revelation was that they were callous murderers with a financial motive who cared about almost nothing but their diamonds (especially Nikki). How does that make them sympathetic?

I think their only hope was a quick unburial by Vincent, and that doesn't seem to have happened. They would've suffocated pretty quickly under that lot. If you really want to see them back, I'd suggest hoping that one of the Others' theoretical underground tunnels passes under the graveyard and someone somehow knew there was a good reason to dig upwards....

I never disliked them as such before - I disliked the way they were introduced but I wanted to know more about their characters befor judging. Nikki was horrible, Paulo was horrible - but had a heart. I sympathised with Paulo a lot moreso than Nikki.

Nikki was cool! I love her now, stupid Lost writers only killed them off because the fans complained about them!

Wrong? Hmmm. Well I had no idea about them and thought they were a pointless inclusion by the writers to have a pointless re-cap episode. Now, I know about there past (a little) saw Nikki in skimpy stuff (which is a plus) but I still think they were a pointless inclusion for their one flashback pointless episode...

So I suppose I was right, though I always thought Abbs' theory would turn out right - that Nikki was Paulo's ("love") slave - so in that respect I was wrong..

Edit: By the way I didn't hate them, I just thought it was a terribly obvious writing ploy by the writers to extend the series/episodes.

They wernt going to be pointless though, everyone only says that now because they were killed straight away but they were only killed because everyoen moaned about them!

I always liked Nikki but hated Paulo. I still do. He was a complete loser really. Nikki was the brains he was the braun.

I would quite happily have them around instead of characters that we know all about such as Claire, Kate, Charlie, Locke and Jack.

For all the aesthetics that Nikki brang (brought?!) I didn't really like her when I found out about her. Paulo was much more likable than Nikki, in my opinion - felt sorry for the guy. But I really don't think it's the actors fault - just plain old poor writing is the reason we couldn't relate to them.

Think about it, why would they introduce new characters now? Each character has his or her own fan base - Paulo and Nikki were NEVER going to have that. In fact, I would have found it slightly insulting had they actually BEEN important. That would have meant the writers needed a Deus Ex Machina to explain everything - which is more bad writing.

But I really don't think they've been influenced into killing them off - I think this was the plan all along - like Arzt. So they didn't have to kill a 'power-character' off. Well, not until the season finale - when we'll surely get a character death, my guess would be Charlie...

I found that Paulo was a more sympathetic character but that Nikki was a more interesting one, but ultimately I found them both pointless. I hated the way they were introduced, and the fact that they did pretty much nothing until Expose. Well I guess Nikki pointed out about the tvs down in the Pearl, but that made me dislike her even more (I blame the writers for that). Their deaths were a mixture of entertainment and horror really, since I don't think we were given enough of them to have formed a great attatchment to them.

I feel bad that they died in the way that they did, rather than the fact that they died at all.
