Default Is Eko the NEW Locke?

I see Mr Eko as a version of Locke....the new improved version.

In comparison:

Locke crashed on the island and found he could walk again - Eko crashed on the island and found his long lost dead brother and the plane he flew in. Giving them both faith in the island

Locke was the hunter of his group - Eko was the warrior of his group

Locke puts a lot of faith in his convictions - Eko has a religious turn on things

Locke was adopted as a boy - Eko was taken by warlords as a boy

Locke is very philosophical by nature - Eko is very logical by nature

Locke had a vision leading him to find the hatch - Eko had vision telling him pushing the button was important.

Now that is where the difference lies. I think Lockes destiny was to find the hatch and that is all. The island led him to the hatch but it did not tell him to push the button. The island has told Eko to push the button that is his job. I'm thinking the island may have deliberately led Locke and Eko to the Pearl hatch as Locke was doing a job it wanted Eko to take control of. Why it wants this I don't know or understand. But I do think the button needs to be pushed, only it needs to be done by Mr Eko.

What do you suppose Locke saw in the black smoke as far as images go?
Probably something significant from his past like was the case with Eko and the Church. I dont think the Cerberus can show the future [least not from what weve seen] so it probably showed him a reminder..something from his subconcious that solidified his faith and purpose.

But wait, your assuming Eko saw the images.....? Hmmmmmmmm

I never thought of that before, I thought they were for us to see.

So Eko saw all tha crazy #$% in the smoke.

I guess that's why Locke said "I looked into the eye of this island and what I saw............ was beautiful.

Would make me cr@p myself too, seeing images from my past in some black smoke.

Although Locke was staring upwards when he encountered what we're assuming was Cerberus. Cerberus is about as tall as Danny Devito, so was it Cerberus at all, because I thought that there was another monster, .......i.e. the one that tore down trees in the pilot, and killed the pilot. Both the monster and Cerberus sound different anyways. The monster sounds like your typical monster stroke dinosaur, while Cerberus sounds like a machine. However the fact no one could ever see the monster when it chased them, may indicate it is actually Cerberus, which would be quite hard to see at a distance through the jungle.
