So - when Eko told Michael the story about the kid with the shovel, who beat his dog to death because it bit his sister on the cheek....... and Eko said the child would be forgiven if he was sorry, but that the child was more concerned about meeting the dog again in hell......

Aside from how spooky this was (Eko knew what Michael had done?), I also had to smile to think of Ana in hell waiting for Michael - boy this time she'd be really angry!

Does Eko know? and if he does, why isn't he telling people?

I suppose "whats done is done"......

He has a very strange notion of the correct means of dealing with dodgy situations, does Eko. His primary concern is generally how it affects his own redemption (cf. his taking the injured Sawyer back to the camp 'for me', not for Sawyer's own benefit). Perhaps he was taking Michael's query in the spirit of the confessional, but letting people know they're being lead into a trap would seem to me a fairly good reason to break a confidence - not that Michael had ever asked him for secrecy.

I thought I noticed overtones of Cerberus being 'the dog in hell'.
I don't think Eko knows that Michael done it, but he seems a bit suspicious, and I'm pretty sure that little story had more than one meaning.

I think its interesting that it is another dog story, drawing parallells between Eko and Locke (not that we needed any more), remember Lockes story about the dog that comforted his foster mum??
