Eko: Post Yemi.

As much as it pains me to suggest this..but was Eko invloved in some murky business whilst working for the Church?

The fake Australian passport that he had mocked-up makes me think that he wanted to get out of OZ pretty sharpish. Also, when that guy offered him some 'work' in LA it appeared that Eko was interested, despite his affiliation.

All of which suggests that even after the death of Yemi he wasnt quite on the straight and narrow.

ALso, this would perhaps suggest that whent he plane crashed he was no longer a priest..not even a fake one since he was leaving for LA and not on church work.

I'm not sure about all of this

He was going to LA, that guy said he could 'hook him up' with some work yet, the priest he was working with/for also knew he was going to LA which would mean it may have been church work as well..

I think it was obvious from the flashback opener [when he's in the confessions box] Eko looked/sounded bored and it all seemed such a struggle for him...

It's really strange because he has such a large belief now since they've crashed. And seemed to show very little, if at all, belief in God in his life before...

Another question I would pose [or 2 questions] is;

Why was he in Australia?
How did he get there without a valid passport/why did he need another one?



Lets hope he doesn't croak before we get some answers

Yeah..it seems that [rather like Locke] something happened in the near buildup to the crash that restored his faith. With Locke we dont really know what that was..although it;s possible that someone 'told' him that great things and destiny awaited him.

I suppose with Eko, his eye's began to open after Malkin's daughter had that little chat with him..and then his faith was confirmed once he found his/Yemi's Cross.

But it is interesting comparing the relatively bored and disbelieving Eko with the fanatical believer in "?"

As for why Eko was in Oz in the first place..well i guess since he was a Priest in Nigeria, his work enabled him to travel to other countries and take on work there..?

This eppy really confused me you know, could someone please explain to me what the hell was going on with Claires Psychic.

Was he just a fake who researched people and told them things he found out?

If this is the case why was he so adament with Claire to keep the baby and then to give it away?

Or was he a real psychic and just said that to Eko so he would leave his family alone and realy knew that the plane would crash so thats why he told claire to get on it?

Or did we not find out? I'm confused

As for the Malkin thing..here is how i percieved it:

We didnt find out the whole story surrounding him i dont think..but if we take this episode at face value, here is what i summised -

He told Eko that he is not really pyschic and that he is a fraud who does his 'readings' by researching his 'victims' before they come to see him. This may explain why he later changed his mind about the CLiare situation..he may have done some background research on her? But then agian..this surely proves that he was lying to Eko..or at least not telling him the whole truth, since he gave Claire her money back and gave her money and free tickets..

So..like i said above..i reckon he was lying to Eko..he didnt want the Church to find out the truth with his daughter. Perhaps he knew that the Church was affiliated with HF..maybe he dindt want to be a part of their plans..maybe they approched him before about his daughter but he blocked their advances so this time HF sent in their church allies to investiogate this latest 'miracle'?

It's all really confusing but im sure you can extract what you needed to know out of that lot.

Basically he claimed he was a fake..but bear in mind he could be lying..I think he does have this ability..and that his daughter is special. But thats just my view :P

The point you made about him buying Claire the plane tickets makes it seem that he really is a psychic and that he was lying to Eko.

At least with Eko there is such a wide gap between the two flashbacks we've had, I live in hope that he won't "croak" quickly because there is lots of material to spin out.

I always thought he got to Oz following the plane, why else would he conclude the plane is on the island by seeing a single virgin mary statue (To Charlie: "You did not find the statue here! Now take me to the plane!&quot. He must have known the plane vanished over the south pacific (which is a good distance from Nigeria).

Now we have an alternative explanation. He believed the prophecy that he would see Yemi again. OK, probably both. This prophecy probably came long after he had given up the hope, and rekindled it.

Another aspect: We used to slant him for being a fake priest, because Yemi who signed his papers said something like "this does not make you a priest". Now we know he managed to become another priest - father Tunde. So who signed that one...

As to why he needs fake papers: I'm guessing that both the Australian government and the US government take a dim view on immigration of unskilled labour from a poor contry like Nigeria, and that being a priest means having professional experience that is valued.
