Default The gaps in Ekos backstory

When Shannon, Boone and Ana-Lucia died, we kind of knew everything that happened to them in their pre-island lives. No obvious gaps anyway.

With Eko we don't know how he got to Australia and why he was travelling to LA. We know he left for London, thats all.

And we still don't know how the plane ended up on the island. Apart from the fact its a plane and it must have been flying but thats not what I mean Can this amazing feat be achieved by two Nigerian drug dealers with a dead priest in the back, and did Eko know about it being there before he crashed on the island.

Will Eko return in flashbacks that will reveal the answers? Or are we forever going to be left in the dark?

we know why Eko was in australia from "?" in series 2. he went there because the phychic's (from claires epi in series 1) daughter had apparently drowned and then came back to life and Eko was sent tehre to investigate.

I think we'll probably see eko again in someone elses flashback or something, but i don't know how we could ever find out why he was going to l.a

I thought that the church he was working in was an Australian church.

yes its a similar situation to libby, there have been many criticisms of ade leaving (not least from me) not only was Mr Eko's character great but the directors had hinted earlier that he would play a big part in s3 meaning they obviously had plans for him. Like someone said though, hopefully more will be revealed in flashbacks (is yemi still alive? Could he become a central character?)

I thought it was strange that, when Yemi says "you are talking to me like I am your brother" Ekos response was "who are you?".

Because the most obvious explanation of Yemis words is the tired old cliche of "you are not my son/daughter" and so on when the person misbehaves in the eyes of the parent.

Maybe there is a story building up here that is completely unexpected, Eko coming back? They buried him in the jungle, remember, and not on the beach. Now how that would work I have no idea, nor if I would even like it.

the purpose of that was to show that Eko had been manipulated while on the island by smokey thing, which appeared to him in dreams as his brother. The ending was Eko finally realising that he had been fooled, and that it was not yemi but someone else ordering him. The look and tone of Yemi/smokey showed that eko had 'outlasted his usefulness', which is why it killed him.

Lol, i doubt eko will come back unfortunately, it would make little sense, but the idea of yemi still being alive and on the island somewhere (perhaps part of the rival group?) is very interesting.

I doubt that Eko knew about the Beach Craft before he landed on the island. As he inferred - 'something brought them there..something beyond what we can see, brought them all to this island'. Some call it fate..others call it coincidence..but some intangible mechanism clicked into gear to change the course of life and direct these people to the island (imo). I view it as a chain of events..you first have to divert one link in the chain before you can take hold of the next link..and so on. So i believe that fate was manipulating these links..one at a time. The beach craft was the necessary pre-curser in bringing Eko to the island. imo. Unless it was all Hanso Fnd manipulation - that i still think is possible..though over the months ive started to get the impression that fate is alive and has chosen to bring these folks here. Maybe in conjuction with an entity such as the Hanso Fnd/Dharma or perhaps its working against them.

Anyway i do feel that Eko (like Boone) will fill in the gaps one day..i also feel that Libby will. It's all too unresolved for them to leave us hanging like wet washing

I guess that when the guy who plays Eko (can't remember his name, sorry) has finished making his new film he would be free to do some cameos in someone elses flashback. Maybe we will get answers then. I really miss him he was a great character and his hello/hellos with Locke made me laugh so much
