Should He Have Come Back?

Should Mikhail have come back when he did? Should he have returned after going through the forcefield and seeming dead? Personally I think he should have stayed dead - by coming back he undermined the fact that Locke had murdered someone (I do think he wanted Mikhail to die when he pushed him through) and despite the fact that he got rid of Charlie he just... irked me (which probably isn't a valid reason but it's a reason none-the-less.)

It was okay when he came back the first time, he saved Naomi and stuff, and didn't do any real harm because they found him trying to steal the Sat phone thingie, but when he got shot with whatever it was and came back that was mean and shouldn't have happened because Charlie died

I loved the convenience of it all; it just-so-happened to be set on the 'low' setting, was such an easy cop out. I don't really see why they brought him back, from a writing perspective you could have had any of the other Others do what Mikhail did, heck you could of had Bonnie turn on Greta (or the other way around) and the scene could have almost been identical.

He should have stayed dead. Although, I did actually really like him as a character...

I think I liked the actor more than the character, his russian accent is just so convincing, and he is one of those people who you just have to watch whenever he is on screen. You kinda don't know who else is in it.

But his actions are basically not right.

Pretend to Locke, Sawyer and Kate he is Dharma; then turn on Sawyer and Kate when Locke is not in the room; then shoot Ms Klugh; then commit suicide by supersonic fence; appear from the jungle without reconnaissance (that was silly, I thought the Others are brilliant at hiding in the jungle unless thats the ability he lost when his brain got fried ).

Then he returns to camp, turns out he is one of the key people; but guess what when Locke beats him up no one cares; then he kills Bonnie and Clyde just because Ben says so, and after he survives the attack on him he prefers to die with Charlie after the jamming device had already been disabled.

So what am I saying. He isn't a character. He was put on the show to move the actions of the other characters forward. There is no logical explanation, internal to the character, that can explain the things he did.

Divoff rocks though, as I said.

I think there's something about Mikhail that could have been explained a bit better. He was so obviously a communications buff. To the point where he would much rather be with his computers, isolated, than with his people.

First: T'was Sayid (not Sawyer), Kate and Locke. Second: Sayid had already figured Mikhail out. Mikhail then figured out that Sayid had figured him out and Mikhail choose this moment, when Sayid was wounded and Kate - who *looks* a push over, to attack.

I'm not really sure why he shot Ms Klugh, initially I thought it was because he was afraid of what Jacob would do to him. But now I believe it is because Mikhail truely believed (blindly) in collateral damage, and that in the end it would all be worth it

He *appeared* because Hugo set off Naomi's flare, probably presuming it was his people... I don't think all the Others are great at sneaking about. Mikhail’s job was as a glorified technician, he had no reason to be Sam Fisher

He's a main guy, but he's never really been a part of the group. In my opinion, Mikhail spent most, if not all, of his time at the Flame - isolated from everyone. Locke's beating up of Mikhail was Locke challenging Ben, something that both Tom and Richard (I think it was? Who were looking on not taking action) later began to do (about Jacob)

I disagree. I think like many of the Others he believed in what Jacob (through Ben) was doing. Remember how Juliets eyes lit up when Ben mentioned Jacobs name during Not in Portland (I think?) when Ben was threatening Juliets sisters life so she would stay? Ben used the-oh-so-fabulous-Jacob to control Mikhail.

The only thing that nagged me, was when Mikhail found out that it was in fact their fearless leader Ben who had caused Mikhail’s precious Flame to break (Comms to go down) - he was too forgiving of Ben in my opinion. I honestly thought Mick was going to finally stop blindly following Bens orders, and actually think for himself - but because of that 4 people ended up dead (presuming Mikhail has indeed perished)

I think the first time he came back was ok, it made me go lol, and it made it interesting. But the second time? No. (mainly becase he killed Charlie)

I think it was important that it was an other we knew that was one of Ben's most loyal followers..

I'm glad Mikhail came back because he's defiantely one of the most interesting character we've seen imo, and I think he stands up well as a character in his own right, rather than just being there to further the plot for other people.

It was also very good when we realised he wasn't dead because it meant that Locke wasn't a murderer, even though he thought he was. (I don't believe that Locke *wanted* Mikhail to die, rather that he didn't care if Mikhail died or not, because Locke it wasn't known for certain if the sonic fence worked or not). But then Locke knifed Naomi in the back, so that argument went out the window, lol.

So, what do you think motivates him? What does he think he is doing and why? For my part, I have very little to go on.
