They say that "In the Land of the Blind, the One Eyed Man is King".
This I believe to be a true statement, because for those who cannot see the truth..for those who either deny the truth or soimply cannot comprhend it..it's the blind (so to speak)..the victimised who become Kings and queens..it is they who turn out to be the only people who see the bigger picture. Where am i going with this? Well, (assuming Mikhail is indeed an Other), then isnt it fitting that the Others..the very people the LOST fans and the hostiles vicitimise and dare i say "purge" are the ones who are saving the world..the ones who are not the evil aggressors that people said that were..isnt it funny how perceptions can shift in an instant. As ive long said: "Beyond what we see, lies an island of opportunity" If I were Jack, id take up any opportunity that the 'Others' gave me..id realise that these people..these so-called 'Others'..well like Mikhail and is one eyedness..they may appear to be closed minded and insular..but really, the Others..theyre KINGS..to survive such horrifc acts and to come out of it with the grace and dignity as Ben and his folks..well..maybe Ben is right..maybe they are the "good guys". Afterall..it's all relative, right? Lets appreciate them ..lets think about this for a minute ![]()

I thought Dharma were here to save the world.
![]() Well I know you've not been aboots KoR. But there are a few murmurs that the Others (mainly) are still Dharma - or least, the remains of Dharma - or maybe a break away group and that the 'hostiles' are another group on the island. (All theory of course) Information = power. For that you are correct. But can we blame the Losties 'mindset' ? I mean they're not privy to this information, were they offered the chance to understand the 'others' and their actions I'm sure (or I'd hope) they'd take it. But the 'others' seem more willing to die for this information than to allow other people it, and allow them to make an informed decision instead of being left in the dark. Appreciate them for what? We still don't know what they're killing each other for ![]()

Hmm first off I'm still under the rule that we don't know enough about the Others-Dharma war to really know what happened and who did what. Maybe the Others unleashed the Sickness and killed off every member of Dharma? Maybe. We don't yet know!
Are you saying the Hostiles are NOT the Others? However I'm not ruling out the Others being the good guys as I like them very much and think they could very well be the good guys. "survive such horrifc acts and to come out of it with the grace and dignity" - Well again we must take Micky's word for it that it was Dharma who made the first move with the Purge. Well of course he's going to be bias is he not? Let's say Dharma started the war...well why? America went to war with Iraq because of something/s Iraq did, and I think the Others must have done something to provoke Dharma. At this point, either group are good or bad. |

This information must be mind-blowingly important. Just what are they doing on the island that they're willing to die for in an instant? ![]() |

Seeing as Ms Klugh's death was probably motivated by the actor's getting a better job somewhere else, I'd hazard a guess that the writers are still trying to work out precisely what's so important that the Others would die to preserve it....
But they're a bit fickle, aren't they, about who learns what? They recruit people, so presumably Juliet knows what they're up to and has been trusted with that knowledge. Why is no-one among the Losties afforded that kind of trust? What's special about Juliet? |

I mean why have one of her own kill her? They could have had some shoot out and had Ms Klugh just loose. I think the 'suicidal'/sacrificial mentality is something the writers wanted to get across. With time, we shall see if it is of any importance. From a viewers point of view - it was excellently written. I loved the whole "Don't let her talk to him Sayid" from Locke. Great scene.

Well i understand that the Others dont really want to give the losties information..as you mentioned they are willing to die rather than give away info - this is important i think and it helps to explain the gravity of the sitution. I know it may seem foreign to us and the losties right now, but i have every 'faith' that there is a good reason as to why the Others take this stance. maybe they have to? Perhaps the Losties cant handle the truth? WHo knows.. Appreciate them for making a stand and for conducting themselves in honourable manner despite the gravity and hostility of the situation at hand. They could easily go around slaying losties if they so chose..yet they do not..they dont take the easy option..they take the 'right' option (imo)

I mean who orders themselves to die to protect information? Well I suppose a member of MI5 might do such a thing, or Tireek [Sayid's fellow solider] and even he eventually spilled his guts [literally most likely ]. The information under guard, not only immensely important, but it would seem should it get in the wrong hands that bad things could happen? If the Lostees found out about such information,...well what's the big deal? The Lostees can't exactly go and report what they find to the local Island Newspaper!, thus it's very intriguing as to why the Others will not part with such information. Maybe it would affect the purpose of the Lostees being on the island, for e.g. if they are under observation they would act differently upon finding this out. Why is it Miss Klugh didn't order Micky to kill himself also? Is he unware of the information that Miss Klugh knows of? |
