Yep I'm pretty sure he is.
Ana-lucia Killed an innocent person, She's far from innocent !! And Micheal has done so much more to Atone. Ben Killed tons of innocent people , buts he's still a great character we can admire and like. and its not like he wanted to or enjoyed killing them, his face wasn't cold it was full of anguish.

Michaels character was put in a rough position. As a mother of two I can tell you that I would do anything and I mean anything to protect my children. Michael did not want to kill Ana and Libby and seemed devasted to me when he did it. He felt so guilty he went back to the island and gave his life up for the other Losties leaving his only son behind and parentless. I seem to recall him telling Walt it was his own idea to have Walt live with him when his mother died instead of Brians, so that Walt wouldnt think any less of Brian. Now that takes a real man.
Sure Michael could have told someone and tried to go about freeing Ben in another way, but I agree with Bass, I dont think Michael was thinking clearly at all. You could honestly call what he did a crime of passion.
