It's an option, but I really hope they don't go down that route: pretty much everybody will see it as a corny way of getting around the aging problem rather than a sound piece of story development in its own right. With regards to Walt, the whole 'abilities=effect on ageing' [that type of thing] could be viewed as corny/cheating, though i suppose it would depend on how it is handled

Of course, I'm all against the 'physical interaction through projection' [Which Walt undoubtbly had during flashbacks] theory. So I'm a cynic of my own idea.... Hmm ummm lol

But it would be a good 'Sixth Sense' type twist..

ive just had the most craziest idea yet!!! whoever or whatever does the backwards whispers that freak our losties out, could be like walt. what i mean is walt could be way more advanced than what is making the whispers because he can appear to people aswell.

Now if its not the others who are doing the whispers then the others could be trying to extract information from walt to try and find out how he does it, hense the tests. and if 'the others' are at war with something that uses the whispers this would give them an advantage of somesort.

What if the others are at war with the black smoke / SS, anyway back to the main point, what if walt is more advanced than whoever or whatever does the whispers. you never know it could be the others that are doing the whispers and want to learn how to project themselves.

Well, for what its worth, the only way to "handle" it is to either kill Walt or to allow him and Michael to leave the island on the boat Michael asked Ms Clue for. Even that is kind of begging me to shout at the telly that this is not story line driven but due to casting, but at least right now it makes sense in terms of the story line they have embarked on.

Any "Walt is ageing fast because..." that I can think of would just be silly. But then I'm just a fan, not a writer, and who knows maybe they can fool me after all

Unless Lost is "Walts dream" as E PLURIBUS UNUM suggested, and he is growing because he has a dream a week, for half a year, and then takes a break for half a year

Personally i think he's only now becoming fully aware of them. I feel that he is most powerful when he is angry or emotional - eg, when Mike burned his comic, the polar bear appeared..when Mike delayed in looking for Vincent because it was raining, he made the rain stop (it could be argued). And similarly, just after he got taken, he appeared/projected before Shannon to warn[?] her..because she had Vincent and he is able to 'project' via his best friend Vincent, imo..

But essentially i think his powers operate more at a subconcious level..alot of this show is about the subconcious and i think this is true of Walts powers. Although i do feel that he is now realising his own potential (was he reading Mrs K's mind in that scene?)..and the others, im sure, are trying to develop and harness his abilities..

I meant it's all real [including Walt on island] but all the Mike flashbacks [including Walt] were real but Walt/the others/some machine was projecting him into 'Mike and Susans' life....

I sympathise, and I reckon that, if the choice was open to them - if they'd had the foresight to cast an eight year old rather than a twelve year old - they'd keep the character in the show. The decision will sadly be driven more by casting choices than by story development. But yeah, they're stuck with it now.

Personally i think that Walt can physically interact through his own projections..i think he's that powerful. Look at Zeke's face when he expressed to 'Team Jack' just how special Walt is..i think this tells it's own story.

Others - no trace/trail - could they be projecting? Can they turn 'physical/none physical' attributes on - example;

They sneak through the woods, leaving no trail/no noise. Walk into camp, turn ON physicalness [lol] - can now pick people up and drag them away....

Coz think about it - Ethan left a trail when he dragged Claire/and Charlie off (had physical 'on'] but 'the others' have shown on many occasions that they leave NO TRAIL [which in itself is odd]

Of course, this goes against everything I believe but I'm pretty opened minded anyways

Personally i think that the whispers are the voices of the dead. Charlotte received a message from Yemi when she was "between places" and Sawyer clearly heard Frank Ducketts voice in 'Outlaws'. I think the island operates on many levels..and one of those levels, i feel, is as a portal or gateway which allows spirits to access the island..or rather access the island via those on the island in the form of dreams and visions etc. I know it sounds a bit naff..a few months ago i wouldve thoguht so myself..that was before i saw 24TR and '?'. oh and dont forget to all those references of the underworld etc on the blast door map..

Going back to your point - like you i once believed that then whipsers were being manipulated by a force such as the others [or Hanso.F]. I still think it's possible though this sort of 'power' would surely put the others at the top of the food chain..and im not so sure this is the case..
