Is Michael trying to speed up the war?

Okay, so last episode Michael went mental and (may have) killed 2 poeple and he also appeared to have shot himself. Why do you think he did this? I see 3 options the third is what I beleive: 1. He's working for ther Others in order to get Walt back (unaware that Henry said "They'll never give you Walt" 2. He shot Ana because she couldn't kill one of the Others even though he tried to kill her, and the Others have already kidnapped alot of the losties, including his own son, then shot Libby, either out of surprise or because she saw him shoot Ana, then he tried to kill himself. OR 3. Ana had already told him that Henry tried to kill her earlier so he's going to make it look like Ana went to Henry for revenge and then he overpowered her, stole the gun and shot whoever he saw in order to escape. Then when Jack, Locke and Kate come back to the hatch and see what 'Henry' did, they'll decide that they need to take on the Others, just like Michael wants them too. These are my veiws and it took longer then i expected, but what do you think were Michael's intentions when he had the gun?

I believe Michael has been sent on a mission by the others with three objectives

1) The death of Ana-Lucia Cortez. As Henry foreshadowed with his attack the others do not want her alive and see her as a big threat since she's already killed two of them out of rage and almost did the same with Henry. With Goodwin's death the others see no place for AL and they dont want her to be in any position to kill any more of their people.

2) The release of "Henry Gale". Not really a major goal in my opinion but to succesful complete objective 1 he will have to let Henry take the blame and his escape and possible reporting back to the others will prove he has carried out goal 1.

3) Most importantly return to The Others with the people on The List. If Ethan did not make 'the list' following his telling off from Zeke then somebody might have, possibly even Walt. I think Michael's main objective is to lead the people on this list (under the pretence of going to war) to the others where they will be captured and Michael will be able to be with Walt.

I believe the others have either threatened to harm Walt if his does not do this mission or they have told him he will never see Walt again if he doesnt. He will also likely not be able to deviate from the plan as the others quite possibly have means of telling exactly whats going on (The Black smoke/Cerberus mind scan for example) and may have even told Michael a few island secrets to get him to co-operate.

I like it, a conspiricy (sp?) theory, nice! You've raised some good points and as Michael would let know harm come to Walt he would probably turn to the Other Side as a last resort to get him back, although i think he's just trying to speed up the war it is a good possibility. However it's also possible that the Others saw him when he followed them and let him see the place they are possibly keeping Walt and many other people prisoner knowing he would go back and do whatever it takes to get everyone to go to war, therefore unknowingly doing the Others work (killing Ana and freeing Henry) in his haste to get to his son.
