Bad Acting.

I watched this episode again last night for the first time in a long time and I could not get over Emilie's absolutely attrocious acting. It really was sub-par to say the least and I cringed when she was on air.

The only good scene was near the end when she is talking to Aaron, but that aside she ruined this episode immensely. The only thing/s that makes this episode good are the scenes with Jack, Locke, Sayid and Henry - along with the "tree frog incident" with Sawyer and Hurley and the excellent flashbacks Claire experiences at the hands of Libby.

I have never faulted anyone's acting on this show and often am puzzled at how forumers fault someone's acting [Kate for example] but this cannot be ignored for me personally. I have grown to hate Claire but my views here are distaste aside.

Does anyone feel the same way?

Can't stand Claire, me.. she is incredibly difficult to watch at times. Although i did think this was one of her better performances.

But you have a point, whereas Evie has at least improved, Emilie seems to have declined in her acting skills. Although she was decent in The Hills have Eyes.

The casting couch obviously blew hot and cold on the day of the Lost auditions. I guess they were also after a certain look (as well as acting strength), and so i guess she fit what they were after.

Myself also. I can really despise her at times. One example being when she said "I don't want liars around my baby", which was one of MANY annoying statements/actions from her.

I do not have a problem with her performance in general except this one and more recently when Miles was tied up in the shed in which her conversation with Locke also was terrible. In Maternity Leave, her every scene was delivered with no talent. Perhaps she would be better suited on 'Neighbours'.

Yes, from memory she did very well in "The Hills....."

Though perhaps we should also fault the Director of that day who blindly accepted her performance.

Oh that was truly aweful indeed. She must have been having a really 'off' day/s when filming the episode.

She was good in the hills have eyes but the line 'Get him back, Charlie. Get Aaron back.' still makes me cringe thinking about it

I agree, she is great to look at (if you know what I mean) but she is not the best actress and it shows up when you have other good actors/actresses around her

the thing that annoys me most about Claire is i thought she was a great actress and a brilliant character throughout S1 then she just kinda gave up on it all and went seriously downhill

and with regard to this episode i hate watching it purely for that god awful noise that take us into the flashbacks

Oh yes! How i laughed and cringed all at the same time! She really does spout some rubbish at times

I've come to the conclusion that the scene was simply a way for them to faciliate the later scene where Ben teased Locke about the potential of 'revolution' as a result of his new-found leadership. Which was a great scene..just a shame that they had to shoe-horn in a Claire rant to give it foundation.

I liked her in ML, but in general she annoys me. Yes, Neighbours, or perhaps Home & Away, would be good for her.

Though perhaps we should also fault the Director of that day who blindly accepted her performance.

Charlie would have been better suited devoting all his attention to either himself or perhaps a pet tree frog.

I cannot recall exactly what she was saying but as you say it was about judging Locke's leadership. I agree, I think they could have had any of the Team Locke members question Locke. Or at the very least stuck with Claire so long as she performed her lines "normally" - and by normally I mean with some form of talent.

Though I do see why they chose Claire - it would have been the same 'formula' had Kate or Sawyer done so.

Terrific episode though I found the constant grind of Aaron crying did not help the enjoyment of it.

Though to MY credit, I do try to like her in spite of not liking her. Though it is an uphill battle and the hill is very, very steep.
