The Fibonacci Lost Sequence
So, Jacob jumps the line by latching onto Hurley's minds-eye and we don't see him for dust. Ok, he sends Christian Shepherd to 'speak on his behalf', but is this really Christian in spirit-form, or simply a manifestation of Jacob?
Eitherway, it paints an interesting picture - Jack does his best to get his people off the island, whilst his father (dead or not) does his best to ensure that certain individuals remain on the island. Curiously, Christian seems to want Aaron to leave the island, and since Jack is Aaron's only way of getting to the real world, Christian, or rather, the island, allows Jack and his select gang to head on home..for the time-being.
So what is it about Aaron that's suddenly so special? Something tells me it's not his time..yet. This would support the idea of chosen ones being brought to the island when they're ready.
But wait a minute..lets go back to Jack..Locke told him he wasn't supposed to leave the island, and I happen to agree with him. So we have mixed messages...one the one hand both Claire and Christian want Aaron far away from the island..Claire even haunts Kate to make that message crystal clear. But on the otherhand, Jack and the rest of the gang weren't supposed to leave. As in, they weren't supposed to leave..period.
So, i'm thinking that we have two forces at play..forces which are not as tangible as your Widmore's and Others and Dharma's. Forces which whisper into the night, perhaps?
I should also add that I don't think it's any coincidence that Christian Shepherd should become Locke's go-2-guy. Locke's antagonist being Christian's son, is a very powerful device. It not only gives Locke greater insight into this "place where miracles happen"..but it catapults Jack's "specialness" into a whole new territory.
One has to wonder..who is leading whom..and what becomes of the parts of the sum.
