Default The Season 4 Game-Changer?

In each season of Lost we've had a game-changer - something so amazing or unforseen that it completely changes our perspective on the direction of the show.

Last seasons game-changer was the finale flash-forwards - a season defining moment that catapulted us into a new direction. Some might argue that the game-changer was Desmond's flashes/time-travel. Eitherway the game-changer involved 'flashes' of somekind.

As good as Season 4 has been so far, it will ultimately need a game-changer - something truely amazing to define it. Many people believe that we've already had such a moment, with Desmond's time-travelling and Constant finding escapades. I would dispute this, because technically 'The Constant' merely realised what we had already been told - that time-travel is a very real aspect of the Lost fabric.

So what could this seasons game-changer be? I'm thinking that it could be something involving the 'magic-box' - a metaphorical device which grants miracules. Perhaps it will tell us more about how only some of the Others are able to "come and go" from the island, or how Ben is able to predict so many outcomes? Essentially I think that our drink has already been spiked - whatever the game changer i'm thinking that it could have something to do with 'realities'. Whilst I would go as far as to suggest that what we've seen regarding the future Losties isn't accurate, I would say that some of what we've seen is not the entire picture. No, not parallel Universes, but parallel perceptions - one body, two minds, perhaps?

Quite often this season people have commented on how their favourite characters are devolving one moment, only to show signs of progress the next - even Ben noticed this fluctuation in Locke:

"You're more lost than you've ever been"

"Congratulations John, You're evolving"

Are these the natural fluctuations of an unstable person, or the constant struggle of two forces (minds) in one body? Some might say that the very definition of Locke's "2 sides..one is light, the other is dark", is that within each of us is the need to find balance.

But whatever the nature of the game-changer, i'm certain that by 4.12, there will be one.

What are your thoughts, if any, on the next game-changer?

Well, we didn't have to wait that long - I guess we now have our Season 4 "Game Changer":

Australia may be the "key to the whole game", but as a analogy, I think this also works well for Alex. Her death..her 'execution' signified the 'changing of the rules'..first by Widmore, and now Ben's objectives may also change..

As game changers go, I think this is one of the most significant.
