Default Why was there a Lockdown

Since people have been talking about the hatch bein gsome kind of signal so that people could find the island (e.g. Penny's goons) it then makes me wonder more and more why there was a Lockdown. At the time there was also a crate of food dropped. Surely someone must have 'seen' the island to land a fat crate on it.

But why was there a lockdown, it seemed completily out of the blue. The timer wasn't at any odd time, Michael hadn't been talking on the computer for a while and certainly Locke was doing nothing out of the ordinary. So why the hell did it happen.

I'm very confused about it all really and i think it may be abig part of future storylines, as in how the crate was dropped, why, if it was indeed dropped, by what and how did the dropper find the island?

Yes, the fooddrop. That is puzzling, especially since noone saw a plane or anything like that.

The lockdown really has no purpose if you think about it. Its not like the inhabitants need to be protected from the food parcels And if you assume its meant to keep them in the hatch so they can't see who dropped the food, well thats only going to work the first time. Second time they will be on the other side and run out.

What would make sense is if the hatch security system detected a plane, and went to lockdown as a precaution. If its a food drop, fine. Better to be safe than sorry.

And another question: will there be future food drops, or do the people who did it know the hatch ain't there no more, so they will stop doing it?

Hmm, interesting points! I had forgottern!

Personally I think an other espionaged in, and manually set off a lockedown, so that henry could get instructions on the other side from him. Thats why he was worried when he said "how long was I out?". Thats IMO...

And so, the food. Yum Yum! I really want them to continue that story, follow its path of how it got there! But who knows, could they all be animals in the ultimate zoo, jurassic park stylE? The park rangers "dropped" food in from the top of the "snowdome"? cool cool!

I think the food drop is part of the protocol put in place by Dharma (since it was Dharma branded food that was dropped)..therefore whoever dropped the food is perhaps Dharma (or at least Dharma affiliated) and knows where the island is etc.

In fact the blast doorr map also mentions something about scheduled drops of somekind. Can't remember the exact way it is worded but it does help support the idea that the blast door lockdown/food drop is part of the schedule/protocol..
