I was just writing about the fact that Kate, Jack and Sawyer could probably end up as test subjects for the Others, when it struck me that they must have a fairly advanced knowledge of medicine or herbs or at least poisonous darts.

What was in those darts that injected our 4 survivors (if we include Hurley) and how did it work. It seemed to affect the nervous system if you look at they way they twitched. If it is, does this not in some way have a connection to the nerves in the spinal colomn? I'm just trying to find some connection to what they used, and to what could possibly have been used in large quantities to enable Sarah to walk again and to cure Locke too. What if the drug they used stimulates the nervous system. could someone have injected it during Jacks operation on Sarah and then someone injected it into Locke after the plane crashed. In small quantities it may only cause twitching and collapse.

There is probably no connection whatsoever, but in any case, somone amongst the others has access to a powerful drug or at least has the knowledge to make it on the island.

I think that those darts were electric-shock devices..

But thats an interesting about about it affecting the spinal column/nervous system..because Jack is afterall a Spinal Surgeon.

I agree with what youre implying with regards to someone using advanced medicine/techniques to secretly 'cure' Sarah (and Locke for that matter)..I tend to think that it was part of Christians re-shaping of Jacks character..he seemed to want him to adopt more faith into his outlook. Perhaps this was in preparation for the island..so perhaps Christian was/is involved with Dharma or Hanso and they allowed him to preactice thier science on Sarah..thus enabling Christian to give Jack a more balanced outlook on life. SOmething he is now finally starting to display on the island what with him being less possessive and in denial and more accepting and open minded.

Going back to the darts..ot sure is interesting what they consisted of..like I said, they seemed like electro-darts to me but you could be right, they may have contain a drug of somesort....though not the vaccine I hope!

Fascinating. I didn't even realise you could get electric shock darts so I googled it lol.

There is an article in May 2003 stating that electric shock weapons could go wireless. Its called a Plasma Taser. Like an ordinary taser but without the metal cables attached. It can cause pain, spasms and paralysis. It also shuts down their nervous system.....now that I find very interesting too.

Great stuff...and it is really interesting. So the plasma taser (once fired) latches onto the skin of the target and induces them with an electric shock..and as you say causes spasm/paralysis..

..it's interesting when considering that the nervous system can be shut/locked down for a period of time...before it is reactivated again (or recovers)...

I thought they were electric too. Didn't they make a buzzing noise? The way the Losties were twitching would suggest they were electric.

Though LLL, your theory could also be correct. Afterall, the Losties developed blurry vision....... and I would have thought an electric shock wouldn't do that, unless of course the current was so strong.

i agree that they were electically charged too, but as good as your theory is (and it is kinda cool) i think it would be a bit tricky to 'shock' sarah whilst jack is doing the presidure(sp?) and doesnt leave her side. i also think it would be hard to run around to alot of the people straight after the crash and shock them too, especially without being seen. The plane crash looked like it had JUST happened in the pilot because there was fuel flooding out of the wings and the jets were still proprelling etc...

but it would have been pretty cool B-)

Im not sure thats what we (well 'I', as i can only speak for myself) were implying ILWL..

Personally i dont think that Christian/Dharma 'shocked' Sarah to fix her spine. Rather, I think they used advanced science..what that may consist of is anyones guess..but needless to say it would be a complex operation of sorts (possibly involving electricity but obvioulsy it would be complex that that sounds). Also, Jack did leave Sarah's side..he wasnt with her 24/7. If you recall he went for a jog the night before she mysteriously healed.. plenty of time for some 'tampering' methinks..

As for shocking the losties when they crashed. I wasnt implying that either...basically i think that they were all unconcious before the plane 'landed' or was brought down/crashed. Therefore they wouldnt have seen anyone dragging them off into a research lab or whatever. They wouldve been kept 'asleep' until everything was in place..afterall this is not too hard to do these days. As for the 'freshness' of the wreckage..good point..but i think that the security system wrecked the plane's front end just before the losties were strategically placed in position, ready for the game to begin (so to speak). As for the tail-section, thats a different story because we saw that crash into the water - however we didnt see whether this was the same tail-section that had 'people' still inside of it.. who's to say that the tail section that we saw was already empty..afterall that seat that came flying towards the camera makes me think of Bernie stuck up in the tree..and no-way could he have survived similar velocity without some form of manipulation/fake crash set-up.

Yes I think we will find the answer to Sarah's treatment in the final season if not final episode.

I don't think Hurley got a dart shot at him as he wasn't exactly running away was he!

that is a good theory but in the first eppy when kate and jack were tlaking didn't kate say she was awake the whole time?

But you see if Dharma/Hanso or Widmore induced science was involved in fixing Sarah then i assume that it would be advanced. There perhaps wouldnt be a gaping big hole in her back (for example)..

Afterall, i get the feeling that Dharma (for example) wanted to not only incorporate coventional science into their philosophy but also pseudo and alternative science. We know that there is alternative medicine/science that doesnt require delving into the body and cutting people open - who's to say that Christian/Dharma (whoever) didnt use such subtle yet advanced alternative science?

Also, Sarah wouldnt necessarily know that she had be tampered with - she may have been sudated...

She did say that but I doubt that she saw 'everything'. I think she meant that she saw up to the point when the plane started to break apart and perhaps a few seconds after that?

We know that she was one of the last people to put on her gas mask..but importantly she 'did' put it on - and i think this would mean that she did get knocked unconcious because of the sleeping gas that i reckon was (secretly) given to them
