Kate's Strengths

I thought we could list Kate's strengths here - after all, she doesn't get the credit she deserves for her tracking and hunting skills etc

I can think of a few straight off the top of my head:

• Good tracker - useful for when Jack needs her to find a missing lostie etc
• Good at stitching - she sowed up Jack's wound on the first day, probably saved his life (infection etc).
• She's very good at climbing trees - useful for fruit gathering and hiding.

I'll try to think up some more later, but really she's a very under valued islander

It's weird, I just don't think we have enough strong females on LOSt and she's all we got. i guess i've kinda been blinded by the likes of Ben and Locke and overlooked many of Kate's good features

I just thought of another one - she's good at mixing potions - I recall her spiking both Jack and Mike's drinks with something or other - all in a good cause of course

She is fearless. She can handle a weapon, climb, track, hunt, fight, manipulate, and pick pockets among other things. She is pretty self sufficient.

And D-Roc, I beg to differ but Imo Juliet, Charlotte and Sun are all very strong women. Oh and how could I forget Rousseau!

Well she's got a strong head, meaning that she can be hit over it several times without anyone suffering the guilt of committing murder...

I think her main strenght is she can keep everyone on side, the main example being Jack and Sawyer, they both know she's playing them and can't decide but none of them really think badly of her for it.
The camp has spent a lot of the time being split, back in S1 the beach or the caves, now we're doing team Locke or Jack. In fact a lot of the show has been based on 2 sides. Somehow Kate always looks after number one and makes her own mind up without upsetting anyone.

How many of those are 'qualities' though? I also think that if indeed viewed as strengths, many of those attributes have actually turned out to be negatives or weaknesses for this character. I mean is 'picking pockets' really a strength? Perhaps for a thief, but then what does that say about Kate?

Juliet maybe - although it all depends on 'which' Juliet were talking about. As for Charlotte I think it's WAY too early to tell whether or not she is a strong female character. Yes, she's got something about her, but at the same time we hardly know her. Sun, imo, is far from being a strong woman - what is strong about her? She's a liar, a manipulator and a bare faced cheat - hardly qualities aligned with 'strength'. She grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth, and whilst I'm not knocking that, I do think that she has had everything given to her on a plate - and the moment she came across some problems in her relationship, she attempted to do a runner on Jin

I think Ana-Lu was the last strong female character that we had - perhaps Naomi also (although again, we hardly knew her tbh).

I guess we just have differing perspectives on what makes a strong female character - nothing wrong with that, opinions make the world go round

Kate's Strengths:

She can pretend shes someone else
She can crash a car
She can rob a bank
She can shoot a gun
She can blow a house up


Shes not bad is our Kate

Unfortunately her CV would be a lie. She cam't exactly say shes reliable, honest, a good timekeeper, does what shes told can she.
