Was Kate right to steal Joanne's ID?

I think I agree, I like Kate as a character, but I think it was immoral and disrespectful of her to try and steal Joanna's ID. Also if they did get back into the real world, and if Kate did go on the raft then Joanna's family would be lead to beleive that she was still alive if her name got onto the papers.

I know it was a terrible thing that she did, but you could see she felt sad and guilty doint it by her facial expressions (and Abbs if you say Trees dont have facial expressions !!!!! )

Fair enough, but was it the 'right' thing for her to do? As we saw with Jack, sometimes the things we want to do aren't what is best for us or for the people around us

Defininitly a huge no no. Kate often thinks of no one but herself, but this is the behavior of one who is on the run. She is surviving the only way she knows how. I for one cannot wait to find out what changes Kates ways in the near future and why she suddenly finds it so easy to settle down.

I think her conscious is very skewed - much lilke Sawyer she not only preaches, but lives under the 'everyman for himself' mantra. It's survival of the fittest for Kate, which is strange because somewhere within her she also has a caring side. It's as if she is two people in one, with the nasty side dominating her actions and morality.

She would steal a dead mans shoes, yet tend to the sick. She would nab Joanne's ID, yet go back for her fellows. She would spike a mans drink, yet try to save the life of the warden who was arresting her.

In short, Kate is a moral mystery and I don't think she even understand's what motivates her heart - Like Sam, I'm guessing it's "murder" first and foremost.

I agree KF, it's going to be interesting to discover what changes her in the future (albeit not a complete change, since she still wants to save her own butt) - is it simply becoming a parent, or is there more to it..the death of a fellow..(Sawyer?), perhaps?

It was wrong but as Joanna was dead it somehow doesn't seem quite as bad, as Joanna wouldn't suffer. At the time I think Kate was still hoping to escape and she knew that she would still be a wanted woman, so I can see why she did it and sort of excuse her but yes it still was wrong. Was this when everyone found out she was with the marshall?? I seem to remember an argument with her and Sawywer.
