Why all the Kate Hate

If there is one character on LOST who i think is unfairly disliked , it is, by a mile, Kate. I can understand people disliking Jack, he's foolish, far to strong willed, and just doesn't believe.

But Kate is none of these things and she is forever helping the castaways (especially the other ladies e.g. Claire and Sun) so why do you people think there is such a dislike of Kate amongst LOST fans.

i don't actually mind her, but i think that why people don't like her is because of the flashbacks, they are boring now and she doesn't really seem to have a point there anymore.

Her character is becoming boring now and i hope they show less of her in series 3 and more of the other characters... like claire.. i think she's a good character

If Kate was not the main female character then I may be able to stomach her but as the lead she is pretty weak a character and even worse an actress.

If you drew a face on a plank it would deliver the lines better then Eva could.

Dont forget Kate is not a nice person either. She STOLE ID from Joanna, she POISIONED Michael, she BLOW UP her father's house, she SHOT the boyfriend in the bank, she ALMOST KILLED the farmer in his car, she KILLED Tom escaping from the police, she USED a hotel room to dye her hair without paying for the room.

Shes an evil women that deserves to be killed off!

I don't think Kate is boring, I like her. She's probably the least boring aout of all the female characters, and most of the male ones.

I agree with verix that she is unfairly disliked.

Also, I think that Evi is a great actress, and the things which have been said about her (not pointing any fingers) *points to the abbott* :P are uncalled for and unfair.

Pah, if all the people with interesting pasts were killed off (and I challenge you find someone's as 'colourful' as Kate's) Lost would be a lot poorer.

Having said that, I do think she's been poorly used (though I think she's been quality thus far this season, both as a character and an actress). Kate was dull last season, but she isn't the only one who took a back seat last year (see Charlie and Claire) and if there is one thing that could be LOSTs downfall it's the size of their cast.

Anyway, I don't get all the hating Evi/or Kate - which ever it is. She get's mis-quoted a lot and can be (shock horror) sometimes honest , about how she's felt in the past.

She hates fans always coming up to her in the street. These are the same people that made her name.
Eva needs to get a reality check I think.

I don't know about on the street but I've read numerous accounts on the net fro mfans who've sent her letters and she's given them a personal reply. I remember reading about 1 girl who asked where Evi got a particular top from and Evi actually sent her the top! And another there was something about a girl sent Evi a bracelet and then saw a picture of her wearing it.

I daresay that Evi is quite a nice person in real life, but from some of the interviews of her I've read/seen, she does come out with some comments that just brings the hate on herself. I think there was one interview where she moaned about how she wished she wasn't so pretty

Yes she was bullied at school for being 'tom-boyish' then when she 'blossomed' (LOL) she didn't know how to handle the attention. As per, people take that one line and forget about the rest of it

She hate's fan's coming up to her in the street. No doubt, I'd be peeved if it happened to me too - I'm sure she doesn't hate THEM but how many times have you heard celebs being hassled when they just want to go to the shops - hell yes, I'd hate that too.

You have to remember she was just an average joe before LOST, much of what she's said has been in how she's shot from a zero to a big star in the biggest (or one of the biggest) shows on TV. So she handled it badly, so what? The fact she's been on our screens for 3(?) years now and it's the same 'quotes/misquotes' we're hearing, only proves everything else she's done/not done is being overlooked because of what she said 3 years ago...

I have no doubt that she's said things, and worded them wrong - you can tell by her face after she's said it. When she said 'I hate being so pretty' - she most likely meant 'she hates being subject to that kind of attention' - she's not used to it.

EDIT: I should probably point out that I also wrongly used 'misquoted' - what I meant was 'taken out of context'
