Default Can Juliet be trusted?

I love Juliet. I think she's a great character and probably my favourite other. But i can't help feeling that maybe there's more to her whole card story than meets the eye. I really loved it when the whole tv bit hapenned but why would she tell Jack this. She's only known him for a few days, is it not a bit odd she's investing so much in him. It seems like she did it through her feelings for Jack. But wouldn't it make more sense if she was after something more. I'm pretty sure this has been brought up in other conversations buit i'm just wondering what the general consensous is. Is Juliet telling Jack this because she cares about him, or is it for her own means?

well i think that she may be under instructions from the 'great' Ben, it could be another test too see if he would concider killing him for his freedom, maybe the whole tumor thing is a trap actually set up too see if he would be suitable to goin them (were not killers)...maybe...just a theory...i actually would like it if Juliet was all good and her and jack went off together to live on an island somewhere but the whole episode was very good

I THINK Juliet was telling the truth on the tv (what she said on the cards). It does seem like she isnt a fan of Ben. Remember when Jack said he would kill Juliet and Ben just basically let him? Juliet wouldnt be happy about that. Maybe she does want a change. I hope the cards were telling the truth, that would be good. I loved that bit! It was awesome.
However, i do see how this could be just another test - it is a possiblilty. I have a problem with trusting the others and i never know when to believe them.
I thought all along that Jack should just bodge up the surgery! lol

it hard to choose whether or not to believe her. She may be telling the truth with the whole cards thing but Ben might kno what she's showing Jack and so that might all be a con aswell to see if he believes her.

It looks to me that there is a bit of power struggle going on with Ben and Juliet. I think she wants to be in charge and is knocking heads with Ben. Maybe she left the x-rays up on purpose when she brought Jack in to the operating theatre so that he would see them and guess.

Surely if she wants Ben murdered they could have just left him to be beaten and tortured by the Losties, or killed him in the jungle and blamed the bears or the black smoke? There has got to be an easier way than trying to persuade someone who doesnt know them all to do it, especially someone like Jack who is a Dr and the sort of person who wants to help people medically.

Or maybe Juliet is really the power and Ben is a front that she wants rid of. Maybe kicking him out of the book club is symbolic!

Im 50/50 on whether she can be trusted or not as we know that her and ben have issues such as the book club and ben locking her out when all the water was flooding in the first episode, but we also know that she has lied to jack before and this could just be another mind game.

Another thing i noticed was that the background in the video did not look like it was from the hydra it looked like from her house in otherville and as they are on a separate island she must of had the video prepared since before jack got there unless otherville isnt very hard to get to.

I think that the is telling the truth in the cards, she wants Jack to botch the surgery. I'm not a big Juliet fan and, as far as why she wouldn't kill him earlier (as Balfie suggested) I think that the Others are a highly suspicious bunch - if Ben had died in the jungle there would be questions. But if he were to die in surgery, where everyone could see that Juliet 'had nothing to do with it' then there would be no questions.

She never promised Jack freedom if he were to kill Ben and I think that she may in actual fact, use him as the fall-guy. Accuse him of deliberatly killing Ben. We still don't have one hundred percent proof that they can get off the island and because I doubt any of the Others would believe Jack over Juliet as saying "but there was a video... and cards... she told me to do it!" doesn't sound very realistic.
