"He walks amongst us..but he is not one of us"
"I was coming for you, John" So jack wasnt that important afterall - least not to the Others long-term objectives. We kinda guessed that he was drafted in to save Ben's life..a mere facilitator, if you will. Good, yes..but also 'Damaged Goods'. And John..the man who thought it was all a trick, a lie..now appears to be a man of great significance (again)..not just for the island..but for the Others and perhaps Jacob? "I want you to know, that i put in a good case for you" He is that important that the Others are taking onboard his advise..but obviously they still discarded Kate -more 'Damaged Goods' ..and perhaps they set Smokey upon her.. "Are you brainwashed!??" Thats right Kate, cuz everyone who gives the Others a yard has to be brainwashed Locke is Locke..he knows his own mind."Im leaving with them" Already been touched on i think - but does this have anything to do with: "The schedule has been put forward..were moving out in 2 weeks" (3x04? Juliet to Danny) Somethings going down ..i mean they were working on something over at Alcatraz..they were making the ground flat..and they were on a schedule..and now..now theyre leaving..and theyre taking John with them..but theyve only temporarily captured him..whats going on? Are they flying to a neighbouring island..why make the gorund flat..why take Locke with them..why leave the damaged good behind..what the heck is going on??Eitherway..Lockes stock sure has grown..and not a barrel in sight Any spoiler-free ideas on the any of the above? ![]() *btw all the above quotes are from memory, so they may not be word for word

Haven't the foggiest really. I don't think we're capable of guessing at this stage: Locke's deciding to accompany the Others, not to mention the Others' leaving, came as a total surprise to me. I'd expected to deal directly with the aftermath of Cooper's appearance on the island. With that in mind, I'd say Locke's decision has to do with Cooper and Ben's revelation (or trick) about the island's being capable of providing whatever it is certain people desire, but I can't really imagine what that means as yet.
And I really don't think I like Jacob and his unforgiving 'I'll kill those who don't obey my word' mentality. Very old testament. I know I haven't met him yet, but he's never yet been mentioned in a good light that doesn't sound totally influenced by brainwashing.... |

Assuming that Jacob and Him are the same person, he seems to have given his people reason to fear that if they step out of line, he'll kill them. They sound genuinely terrified when they speak of him in relation to what they perceive as their misdemeanours (I don't mean their kidnapping and torturing and neck-snapping and that; they seem much more concerned about letting slip information). 'Not a forgiving man'. He certainly doesn't come across as a benevolent father-figure. Though I'm not ruling out the possibility that he's a concept or a rule-book or a fictional character or something along those lines. A myth used to terrify children into toe-ing the line.

What has struck me is that is the third attempt somthing has made to capture Locke in sorts - dont forget that monster tired to drag Locke down that hole in S1, makes me think that Locke is important to the over all 'game' if you like. I dunno maybe chess makes a good example here (i would have said that regardless of it being featured or not but thats another thread for another time) and that Locke is an important and powerful piece. They say that Bens the master at manipulation, maybe hes actually more of a puppet pulling stings of his own but ultimately somone else - him/Jacob is pulling his. Or that Jacob has told Ben what he wants and its up to Ben and his skills to get it done

As for Locke, yeah he's certainly important..whether he's a pawn or a King..well, that remains to be seen..i suspect he;s a bit of both..to the island he may be a pawn..but to the Others, he could be a King (or vice versa). I just keep recalling the look of admiration Mikhail had in his eye when having that convo with Locke..

Manipulative, sinister, sanctimonious, obnoxious, deluded, untrustworthy, twisted... well, we've already got to number seven and it still hasn't turned up....

Maybe a Rook then? Im thinking maybe a high value piece and maybe the other losties or even some of the others are pawns? I just feel lock does have a lot of value because like i said there have effectivly been three attempts to capture him and the recent one has suceeded - so it seems |
