Thumbs up Locke's a 'good' person?

Facinating scene between Henry and Locke when Henry tolfd him that "I was coming for you John"..which implies that Locke wouldve been on the 'list' had Ethan not messed it up.

But do you believe Henry? Do you 'think' he's telling the truth?

Personally I think Henry was telling the truth on this occassion, it also leads me to believe that Rose should be on the list too.

Default Locke's a 'good' person?

Ah that was a brilliant scene between Locke and Henry!
And I so loved Henry's line of 'If you've come to apologize, I forgive you for hitting me with your crutch. I'm so glad my head didn't break it.'

I actually want henry to be telling the truth, becase I do consider Locke to be a good person, and don't think that the Others are as awful as they seem, and so perhaps it would be beneficial to Locke to come to them. But then again maybe they just want Locke for a more sinister reason...why wouldthey consider Locke of all people to be special, and what would they want with him? Could it be to do with his miraculous healing legs....or maybe Dharma experimented on him (cured his legs) when he crashed, and they just wanted to check up on him, and figured that he has an open enough mind to believe Henry rather than just kidnapping him outright. Or if you're partial to the theory that Locke was a creation of Hanso/Dharma, then perhaps they wanted to reign him back in to fulfill his ultimate purpose.

That's all assuming that Dharma wanted him in the first place....Henry could of course have been lying and just thought up something that would apeal to Locke's way of thinking. Henry is good at gauging their personalities, and could have figured out that the thing Locke wants most is to feel wanted, special and a bit superior to everyone else, especially if those things are coming from the island itself.

But for the moment I'm leaning towards the option that Henry wasn't lying, and that Locke really is considered a good person by the Others!

Whether or not Henry's telling the truth, and I think it could go either way, the implications for Locke are fascinating. He initially looked terrified...but he looked terrified when the Black Smoke was going to pull him into that hole as well, and he got over that in time. Locke desires more than anything to be wanted. He's been told the Others want him. That could prove attractive...depends just how hooked up on the whole idea of destiny he is right now.

I also wonder in what sense Locke is a 'good person'. I certainly wouldn't want to be considered good by the Others' criteria....

Yeah I think that regardless of whether Henry is telling the truth or not, Locke's self-worth and self-confidence (and no doubt ego) have been given a boost by Henry's claim that he's a good person and that people want him...indeed that people are willing to trek across the island just for him.

Perhaps Locke will finally let go of entering the numbers and pushing the button now that he believes he has a greater purpose with the Others...but he may just be letting go of one 'destiny' and blindly putting his faith in the promise of another, which could turn out even worse for him.

I think Henry did actually come for Locke, and something tells me following Michael's mission he might not have failed just yet, perhaps he was meant to get caught? Was this the plan all along? They lured Michael out so they could capture / blackmail him and then they sent out Henry to get captured? I can see dark times ahead for poor Locke in the season finale.

I think that Henry did come for Locke, but that might just be because I like Locke and I like the Others...

But Ki's point here is a very important one, much moreso now that he appears to have completly lost his faith in the button.

I think that there are two options here (if Henry is telling the truth.) Either -

a) Locke feels that, now the button has gone, there is no reason for him to stay on the island and so he goes with the Others to find that elusive purpose he's been searching for.

He feels letdown by Dharma tricking him into pushing the button and refuses to join them, then, possibly, forcing them into kidnapping him to get what they desire.

I reluctantly agree that everyone will suffer in some way in the season finale!

But I'm convinced that Jack (unfortunately), Kate (unfortunately) and Locke will definately see it through to the end of the show, so I don't think Locke will suffer fatally in the finale.

Given the overall state and behaviour of most of the losties, if Locke jumps ship to Team Others I'm going with him. When you compare the Others (Ethan, Henry, Zeke, Alex for example) with people such as Jack and Kate, the Others are a country mile ahead in terms of character!

I'd go for option a. B is possible, but I don't think that Locke holds such a burning anger in him any more, and I think he's more curious rather than avengful. I think Locke will think that there's nothing left for him at the moment, because his hatch (which cost Boone's life) is just a joke of an experiment and he has no close relationships with anyone on the island so, coupke with his contuinued belief that he is still destined for something on the island, he will go in search of Henry and the Others, and try his luck with them.

But his anger does seem to be coming back... as witnessed in this (absolutely) heart-wrenching scene from '?'

Quote:
EKO: We do it because we believe we are meant to. Isn't that the reason you pushed it, John?

LOCKE: I was never meant to do anything. Every single second of my pathetic little life is as useless as that button! You think it's important? You think it's necessary? It's nothing. It's nothing. It's meaningless. And who are you to tell me that it's not?
It was a very anger-filled outburst, not onlny at the button but at himself, at his life, at who he has been and who he is.

Hopefully he'll find a way to cheer up or he might keep spiralling into pre-island Locke.

That rant, but in particular that line reminded me of Lester Burnhamout [Kevin Spacey] from American Beauty - he might of even said those words!

Anyways, I wasn't making a point. I just loved that scene
