I just wanted to ask this question to compare how other people view lost and its characters, Im not going to put it in a poll because the answers are too varied.
But the thing is, when the show started, Jin was protrayed has a bad uncaring husband who was maybe a women beater but has the series progresses, we learn that he was forced to do terrible things for the man who could take the love of his life away from him, had to deny the existance of his father (which must have been heart rendering for him) in order to avoid the shame (a big thing in Korean culture) fo where he came from in order to secure said women. He had to lie to her to protect her from the turth of what he had to do His wife then sleeps around and planned to leave him, keeping a big secret from him. We then find out that his wife and mum put him in that very situation where all he tried to do was to be a caring husband and provide the best for his wife. He then crash lands on the island, and is forced to learn a new language. he is now getting involved a lot more, and is learning english. I predict big things for Jackie Jin in the future of lost, and is fast moving up the table of my favoruite lost characters, above claire now in my top 5 after last nights showing, with my sympathys growing for that character, rather than going down like some of the rest of them. what do you all think of Master Jin? |

i really hve changed my opiion on jin. he was very jealous and controlling but has since changed his ways.
I think being on the island has shown him just how much Sun means to him and he realises that he doesn't need to be how he was. This last episode also made me realise how much he cares for his fellow survivors by being wary of mikhail.

Since "...In Translation" I've always liked Jin. Seeing that he was forced into his job by Sun's dad just so he could marry her, and seeing him shake and cry in his bathroom was truly awful. He's a good guy, and a brave man....and an assest to the island. And he was part of the Raft Crew, for which I loved him even more. I'd say he's about 4th for me, maybe 5th sometimes, on my liking scale.
He's a good man.

Yes, he's probably the character I've had the biggest turnaround on - I absolutely couldn't stand him in the early episodes, but I'm mostly very fond of him now. And it's not just because the flashbacks give us a greater understanding of what happened to him to make him the character he became: he admitted himself that the character was genuinely unlikeable and, like almost nobody else in the entire series, he apologised, repented and changed, with no severe relapses. Which is admirable.

I have much respect for Jin - and not just for those moves he displayed last night (Sorry Mikhail but he whooped you
).You made some solid points there esn and i cant add much to that, but i would like to restate just how difficult it must be for him..not only the not speaking English part, but also his wifey troubles.. He's also toned down his agressions which was deffo needed. It's good to see how far he;s progressed really - and this episode only makes me warm more to Jin and become more sterile (not pun intended) towards Sun ![]() Oh and what about the things he doesnt know..like Kwon not being his real father..and his mom being a prostitute.. Poor poor man Oh well at least the baby is his..we think ![]()

Jin's always been growing on me. At first, I didn't like him and the way he treated Sun at all. But then we learnt more about him in his flashbacks, and he changed as a person on the island and now he's brilliant. His character is so less edgey, friendly and just Jin
Ever since he climbed aboard the raft he's been on a postive slope upwards. Interesting that it's almost been the reverse for Sun...I don't strongly dislike her or anything, but they've almost swapped positions in my liking of them. |

I love Jin, he's up there with my favourite characters and last night just re-affrimed his greatness for me... those moves, i had the biggest smile on my face after that final round house, just so superb.

I think that's where he wins over a lot of the other characters - he really does seem to be learning. Sun explained what was wrong and he said, not in so many words, 'yes, I get that, sorry', and then tried to change it. And I don't think his lapses have been too severe. Which is more than you can say for, say, Sawyer. |
