Default Soft metal into steel - Christians plan working?

Ive been hard on you because i want the best for you. It's like changing soft metal into steel [or something like that] were Chrstian's words to Jack in 1.11 flashback.

Now..i kinda think that Christian's early efforts to make Jack more 'detached' are finally starting to pay off because when you compare the blubbering and distraut Jack when he thought Charlie had died in 1.15 and when he lost Boone in 1.20 to the dry eyed and slightly sad Jack when he realised that 2 of his people were dead in 2.21..it's a stark contrast imo.

Especially when you consider that Jack and Ana had this 'thing' going on it begs the question as to whether Jack has finally found the ability to 'let go' easier now Â*Â*Has all the lives that have slipped through his fingers finally made him less effected by grief and loss?

You know..in a funny kinda way i think i actually prefer the needy/cant 'let go' Jack..he was so much more..human.

Jack is a power-crazed maniac on a 3 month ego trip. And he's emotionless.
END OF.

lol I agree KoR. I think it was also obvious just after Libby had .......gone. When he was in the room with his medical stuff. He was more focused than we're used to seeing. Usually he would break down into a mess [although why an emotional man who gets upset when people die/his wife leaves him - gets so much stick is a conundrum to me] I'm a bloke by the way

But yes...I agree. I also wonder if it's because he's 'the leader'. Remember for 30+ amount of years he's lived behind his father. He's always been judged by him, even if he was a 'better doctor' than Chris....

Now of course, you might see Jack as the dominant in his relationship with Locke, who he is now judging etc

If I think about this, I'm seeing it as Jack's natural progression into Christian. He's becomming detatched, tough, emotionless.

Which proves that even though his father is 'dead' he hasn't escaped his grasp.

Maybe its just that Jack is actually gettin used to people around him dying. As horrible as it sounds think back to his little sppech to Sayid in 3 minutes when he said something along the lines of ' I was supossed to be burying my father, now here we are again'.

Implying that he has had to bury and attend a number of funerals in such a short space of time he's kinda getting used to it now.

Yeah..a son stepping out of his father shadow. Looks like he may have stopped chasing that allusive white rabbit..

I havent felt the need to criticise Jack for a few weeks now..i guess he's growing on me a bit :P Although I dont like how rude he is to Eko, though to be honest Eko can handle himself and isnt very reciprocal to Jack himself

I still reckon that Christian is alive and well and that he is involved with the HF or Others somehow.. ..I reckon that The Others now want to groom Jack.. He's changed and perhaps theyve noticed that change in him? Maybe they think he'll proove vital to their cause ..whatever that might be..

Hmm, just a thought..but perhaps they need Jack because they need a proper Doctor..someone with real medical knowledge. Isnt there a thread somewhere which suggests that the Others dont have genuine medical experience? Well say we go along with that..perhaps this is where Jack becomes vital to them.. Of course this is only a theory based on another theory..so it's propably well wrong

All the characters are cool in their own way and contribute to the show's awesomess but Jack is without a doubt the main character that has been the glue of the show.

I'm not sure why so many find Jack and Kate annoying. I've always liked them.
