What will Jack do?

I know it's probably too early to tell, but what do you think Jack will do with regards to Juliet's plan to botch up Ben's operation?

At the moment I think that Jack will eventually come round to the idea of performing Ben's op and plan to follow Juliet's instructions to kill him off, but then he'll have an attack of guilt and won't do it, and will instead save - or try his genuine best - to save Ben's life.

(This is of course assuming that Juliet is telling the truth about wanting to do away with Ben, and is not just another test for Jack that Ben knows about)

At the moment Jack does hold a dislike of Ben but after seeing Ben behave in such a defeated manner about his cancer this appears to have waned slightly.

Usually I would say that Jack would refuse to do such a plan - no matter how much he may hate Ben, his whole life has resolved around helping people.

I just hope that this isn't the time he finally decides to let go of his hero complex.

I think he'll go with Juliet altogether.

The thing to remember about Jack is that he's not above immoral acts, as his part in both the James and Benry torture has shown. So it's certainly not out of the question..

However i hope he will start to hear the alarm bells ringing because alluring as she is, all's not right with Juliet. It's been made to seem as though Ben is the 'bad guy' out of the 2 of them..but for me i get the feeling that the producers are up to something..they want us to believe that Juliet is the better of the 2. Personally, whilst i do still like Juliet, i think Ben is the one Jack should listen more.

At this stage it's 50/50 as to whether Jack would directly commit an immoral act..but with the nature of his captivity, he just might. If i had to guess..id say no, he wont do it...he'll find some way around it. But perhaps that is more in hope than reality?

If he botches up my Ben, i'll hunt him down like an island Locke hunting down a boar

Got to say..another stella performance from Foxy..whats happened to the man/character!

Yeah I just get the feeling that Jack couldn't bring himself to allow someone to die - or to take an active role in their death - just because he didn't like them. It's just not in the man's personality.

I wonder if Ben - in his process of trying to break Jack down - was gradually getting him to 'let go' of various aspects of his personality, so it will be a bitter twist if Ben inadvertantly helped Jack to get rid of his burning desire to help everyone no matter what the cost, and Jack does follow through with Juliet's plan. But if Jack does let Ben go, my rage towards the evil man will have no end!

I don't think Juliet ever promised to free Jack if this happened (unless I missed it) so he has no reason to botch the surgery unless it is out of detestment.

And Ki - I agree that breaking down Jack's barriers and not having time to build them back up may be Ben's undoing.

Yeah I think that we the viewers are being led to believe that Jack has more sympathy/more of a connection with Juliet then Ben, and trusts her more, so it wouldn't actually surprise me if Juliet is really much worse than Ben is...I get the feeling she could do a lot more damage to him then Ben could, because Jack is feeling more comfortable and confident around her now.

I think that Jack will be tempted to go full out and botch up Ben's op, not least out of his anger at being captured in the first place and everything else the survivors have experienced thanks to the Others, but also because he's not above a bit of petty, violent revenge as well. But I also think that it's not inherent in Jack's character to be so utterly rutheless as to take someone's life like that, and that he'll do his best to save Ben however possible.

And if he does follow Juliet and Ben dies, I'll join you in hunting that wicked man down!

But if he does save Ben, then I promise right now to lay off the Jack bashing for...1 whole day. Which is very generous coming from me

I promised a whole week last night lol - said I wouldn't say a single word against the man

I think that Jack will go through with Juliets plan, but at the last possible second, try to save Ben, but it doesn't work......no spoilers there obviously.

A whole week without saying a word against Jack?! You're a stronger person than I am! lol
But if I had to make such a sacrifice to save Ben I would of course make it and hold to it!

No I don't ever remember hearing Juliet promise Jack anything in return to perform a botched op. Maybe Juliet is hoping that Jack feels sufficient sympathy towards her and sufficient hatred towards Ben to do what she asked of him, and that Jack trusts her more than Ben.

Juliet hasn't offered anything to Jack in return, but Ben has offered Jack the chance to go home if he does what he's told (which presumably is to save Ben's life), so unless Juliet can make a better offer and, couple with Jack's morals and instincts, I don't think that Jack will do what she has asked.

I'd probably even keep off the Charlie bashing for Ben's sake lol.

I'd forgotten that Ben had promised him the chance to go home so hopefully Jack will realise Ben is handing him the better offer - esspecially with how he may now see Juliet as betraying him by feigning her kindness in the previous episodes.
