JACK...the TURNCOAT!

So in the airport sequence Jack is about to pass through the gate ..but Benry is searching him..what a good metaphor to describe the current situation..in that should Jack co-operate with Ben's requests then he will go through the gate and go home..

Which begs the question.. just what lengths would Jack to go to get home? The island seems to think that Jack is pretty intent on going home - hence Jack's focused stance in that sequence..not even looking back at Kate or James..instead he was just staring purposefully (yet solomnly?) in front of him..

We saw that when pushed, Michael was prepared to go to great lengths to get his son back. So..will Jack turn his back on his friends? It would seem that Ben was intent on turning him and Locke against one another back in the hatch..so will it be that Jack has to do something which will hurt or hinder his buddies?

Is Jack a turncoat?

To be honest, I don't think he will turn his back on his 'friends'. OK, they're not exactly his 'friends' but I think he will feel a degree of loyalty to them. I think he has too many issues with needing to fix things anyway even if he was offered a get out clause, I think he'd be more concerned about his buddies. He'd need to 'fix' or 'help' them and I doubt he'd just walk away from that.

That's possibly the nicest thing I have ever said about him or will ever say about him! Maybe I'm premenstrual or something!

Good point SP - if ever something needed fixing, then this is IT! Also, that reminded me of another parallel between Team jack's situation and Team Lockes..the issue of fixing things..

I agree..it's possible that Jack wont betray his buddies..he's always been the one willing ot run out into the jungle to find them..perhaps this is the one reason why Ben and the Others have taken Jack..thus taking the foundations away from the losties.. ..pity they didnt figure that Island Locke would return to save the day, huh

Im still worried though..Jack sure did look pretty intent on leaving in that airport sequence..and i hold that as being an accurate portrayal of things to come because..well because it was a message from the island..and the island is never wrong

Thanks..it is a good metaphor isnt it - very clever of them for illustrating it like that.

I was also intrigued by Kate and James' actions..at first Kate had her back to James..and then she was sorta flirting with him and had her back firmly to Jack..i wonder whether this has any importance. Does this mean that we'll soon be 'celebrating' the union (so to speak) of Kawyer as opposed to Jate? ..Will Kate end up having to make a choice between Jack and Sawyer? Will she choose Sawyer? Will there be a twist and the person she chooses..she actually loses..?

Ok, some random speculation there ..but i just think that that whole airport scene gives us some solid pointers as to future events

It could be relevant, who knows. I hope Kate chooses Jack in the end though, they're meant to be together! Even though Kate and Sawyer make a good couple in a way, thats just lust. Jate is love!! lol i knew from that first meeting when Kate had to stitch Jack up that they were going to fall in love.....it was meant to be! haha

I think that showing Kate and Sawyer cavorting around with each other in the airport whilst Jack looked somewhat upset and looked very seperate from them (I'm not sure Ben looked towards Sawyer and Kate once) means that Sawyer and Kate don't need Jack to rescue them, that they can manage to survive on their own.

I think he'll have a lot of guilt about leaving but the way he was staring at the television screen and if the airport was showing how he isn't neccercery for the castaway's survival that he could choose to leave.

Alright, think of this 'Out of the Lost' Would the producers want to get rid of one of the main MAIN characters, and i know alot of women who luurrvvv him lol. so i really wouldnt sacrifice him, just like they wouldnt get rid of sawyer... *shudders to think of Beachys reaction if it ever did happen :P*

As much as i want Jate to happen, for some reason i thinks its gonna be Skate... everything seems to skatey so far

lol, i remember that first meeting - Kate stumbling out of the jungle, slack jawed and with a glazed look in her eye's..not much has changed since:P

I hate the thought of those two guys being at her feet though..i mean i dont want them to start fighting over her like she some sort of Godess..there's better lostettes out there..Nikki for a start..i mean i cant believe she's been there all of that time and James hasnt hit on her yet

Could it potentially be a case of Jack playing a 'long con' on Benry and co? I mean, he showed in the card game with Sawyer that he's got a poker face and can be quite shrewed when he put's his mind to it..when he wants something - "when i want the guns...i'll get the guns..". I would like to see Jack pretend to be compliant..and then double cross the Others. But in saying that this all depends on whether or not the Others are bad..personally i dont think it's as simple as that so I suppose im divided in my loyalties..i want Locke to save the day..yet i also like Benry and i would also like to see Jack pretend to become the anti-hero..

I think this is quite likely. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Jack appear to co-operate with the others until he makes them think he's going to be compliant. Then BAM! I'm not sure what he'll do though. I reckon he'll have to think this one through well. There have been too many times he's gone in guns blazing (literally!) on to end up with egg on his face so hopefully he'll reflect on that. I reckon he'll use intelligence as opposed to outright violent confrontation but I'm at a loss as to how he'll pull it off!

Yeah, Jack's made too many gung-ho decisions in the past..he'll have to take a leaf out of Locke's book and prepare himself (notice btw, how well Locke prepared himself before going to rescue Eko..he brought that cloth thing in that tin which allowed him to keep the fire burning..not many wouldve thought of that ..just a wee observation of Locke's greatness )..

Just a thought but do you or anyone think that Juliet is for turning? I mean, we might assume that The Others are trying to turn Jack and co..but what if Jack manages to turn Juliet? I mean what if he appeals to her sense and gets her to double cross Benry!? Afterall, at the beginning of 3x01 we see how vunerable she is..despite how well she's masking it, she does seem to be a troubled woman..and if my theory about it being because Ben is terminally ill is wrong :P then perhaps she was so upset because she is disillusioned with the work thats being done there and her current lifestyle? Also, when Jack asked her about Dharma, a really sad look washed across her face..she seems uncomfortable with whatever happened..despite her rhetoric about it being 'in the past' etc..i still got the feeling that she was slightly sad about the whole messy affair...
