GREATEST HITS

The twenty first episode of Season 3 is Charlie’s flashback, where we learn what he considers to be his five greatest hits are. Number 5 is the first time he heard himself and his band Driveshaft on the radio with You All Everybody, when the van he was in with his bandmates broke down. Number 4 is his Dad teaching him to swim at Butlins, saying that he has to face his fears and just jump in. Number 3 is when his brother Liam gave him the DS Driveshaft ring one Christmas, with Liam saying that Charlie is the one most likely to lived past thirty and settle down with a family. Number 2 is when a woman outside Covent Garden called him a hero, when he confronted a man trying to mug her and chased her away. The woman was Nadia, and explained that three people had seen her in trouble but had just walked past. Number 1 on his list is when the night he met Claire on the island, where he comforts her after the crash and tries to assure her that they will be rescued.

Meanwhile on the island Jack explains his plan to everyone, giving them a demonstration of Danielle and some dynamite where he declares that Juliet will mark the tents like she was supposed to, but that they will be empty and when the Others come they will be blown up. Sayid says that he can’t get a signal on Naomi’s phone, with Juliet explaining that Ben has been blocking communications from an underwater station called The Looking Glass. Charlie volunteers to swim down to the station, after discovering that Desmond has had another flash where Charlie dies, but because of it everyone will then be rescued. As the survivors prepare the camp for the Others’ attack Karl suddenly arrives, telling everyone that the attack has been moved forwards for tonight. Charlie and Desmond go out to sea on a boat, and Charlie gives Desmond his greatest hits list to give to Claire before he dives underwater. He finally breaks the surface and is happy to not have drowned, only to find that two strange women are there and are pointing guns at him.

[Lost Lewis]

This is an amazing episode. Series finales/series pre-finales are always great There's a totally different vibe about them and the pace is always really quick.

I really like the way there's loads of mysterious starts in series 3 - Karl running through the jungle to the canoe in this one - they're pretty intense and exciting It was good to see Karl and Danielle rolling with the losties too. Rose and Bernard are back on the scene too!

Charlies flashback was good. Easy to follow and moving even. And his goodbye to Hurley

And it looks like the losties have got the plan all sussed doesn't it! Can't wait to be reminded how that worked out

[The Wizard]

I loved the first scene, or at least I think it was the first scene, with Danielle showing the losties the dynamitey thingy, and then Jack's line... 'So tomorrow night, we stop hiding, we stop running, we stop living in fear of them, because when they show up, we're gonna blow them all to hell!'

[Easily confused]

one of the best episodes of S3 and the rewatch is sooo much better knowing whats going to happen next

Charlie is so much like he was back in S1 which is so much better than he was in S2

and the moment he adds when he met Claire to his list is so sweet

Wow, what a tear-jerker. Could they have portrayed sacrifice any better? Dominic nailed it, they all did, it was just such a painful joy to re-watch.

I loved the part where Charlie didn't want Hugo to come with him and so said something nasty to protect him, yet didn't want his buddy to leave without first telling him that he loves him and giving him a big hug. That brought all the seasons flooding back, their journey together, their laughs, their highs and their lows..what a friendship..what a guy to lose

I also liked the part where he tells Aaron that he loves him.I liked that that because it was so simple and pure and that's a real sign of love. A real difference from the F+W Charlie that we saw in S2. He matured so much and found a real bond with this baby and his mother. In truth Charlie wanted to be saved..98 days ago he was the one who needed saving..now he's found the strength from somewhere to be the saviour..to sacrifice his life without question for someone who he loves, even though she might not love him back..that's kinda deep.

I miss him

I find it hard to fault this episode..

Re-watch value 9/10

A fitting send-off for a guy who discovered the true measure of his own strength.. in weakness.

all of the episode was just brilliant

[Mantis Zero]

The final scenes on the boat with Desmond and when Charlie dives down are one of my favourite moments in all of Lost. Right up there with the Locke wheelchair reveal, "we're gonna have to take the boy" and Michael killing Ana and Libby. I think this was my favourite episode in Season 3.

Yeah, both are great scenes - sometimes I forget how good the S1 scenes were. It's certainly up there with the Charlie/Des moment.

Oh and good to see you again Mantis, long time!

It has indeed.!! I've been quite busy with the acting but since I'm having to use alternatives to Sky to keep up with Lost I've been popping back and checking out the conspiracy theories occasionally

Hopefully the list will make a re-appearance in Claire's next episode otherwise it just makes Charlie's five best moments of his "sorry excuse for a life" even more tragic. If its written on the same paper as Sawyer's letter I think it should have survived that dive down to the Looking Glass

Yeah, Sawyer's letter survived alot, hopefully Charlie had the good sense to use the same water-proof paper!
