D.O.C ![]() The eigteenth episode of Season 3 is Sun's flashback, where a woman strikes up a conversation with her and demands to be paid one hundred thousand dollars or she will reveal to everyone that Jin's mother was a prostitue. Sun goes to see Jin's father, who admits that his mother went with many men and abandoned him to his care; that he can't be certain that he really is Jin's father. He also makes Sun promise not to tell Jin that his mother is alive in order to spare him the shame. Sun asks her father for the money, and after an initial reluctance he agrees, but warns that since the money is for Jin he will have to pay the debt for it. Back at their apartment Jin discovers the money, and Sun lies and says that it is for a honeymoon. Jin says that he does not want to be in her father's debt, and that he can look after her himself. Meanwhile on the island Sun is suspicious when Jack asks about her pregnancy, and after Kate tells her that Juliet is a fertility doctor and wanted Claire's baby Sun confronts her, and learns that pregnant woman on the island die. That night Juliet takes Sun to the Staff hatch, where she perfroms an ultrasound on her to determine the date of conception, which will also make clear who the father is. Sun is happy to be told that the baby is Jin's, but this means that because she conceived while on the island, her future does not look good. The parachutist that Desmond and co. found is a woman called Naomi, who is badly injured from a punctured lung. After Hurley accidentally fires a flare a man suddenly runs into their group before running away agin, but Jin catches up with them and they learn that his name is Mikhail. Mikhail says that he was a medic and he treats Naomi's wound, and she tells them all that the plane of flight 815 has been found and that there were no survivors on it.

I quite liked this episode. It was very emotional when Sun found out that the baby was Jin's
Even if she is an evil woman And Jin pulled those martial art skills out of nowhere didn't he! A nice crescent kick and a double chop ![]()

Yeah, an OK episode, nothing much to write home about but it's bearable if you watch it close to the previous or next episodes.
I think that Jin and Sun flashbacks, much like Kate's and Hurley's, have run their course. There seem to be no signs of anything new happening and despite the writers efforts with the baby storyline, they don't seem to be getting anywhere near the levels of interest held by Locke, Sawyer, Sayid etc. Plus is it just me that thinks it would have been so much better had the baby been Jae's? We undoubtably know that Sun will be kidnapped/attacked or whatever sometime in the near future with both her and the baby's lives at stake. For Jin to decide whether or not to help his cheating wife and a child that isn't his would be much more compelling viewing than the current situation. In Lost conflict is necessary, and whilst the conflict between Jin and Sun will be expotential when Jin finds out that Sun did cheat on him, it would be increased ten fold should Jin also find out the baby isn't his. The revival of Mikhail is an interesting point. As fun as his Claire Bennet like abilities are, I feel that it did become a slight negative for the show. We know that those who have a communion with the Island, or are basically special, get to receive the Island's gifts, however having Ben's right hand man having possibly the strongest bond leaves somewhat to be desired. Plus the excuse given in the episodes after this, "luckily the sonars were on a low level", kind of destroys even the above theory. In my opinion, it would have been better had Mikhail stayed dead. At least then the writers could have at least given a little credibilty to the show and the character. There was also the nice stereotypical view of the Korean bloke knows karate going on too. Jules is great as always and makes the episode with the final line of "I hate you". If anyone needed any proof of Jules and Ben's relationship that line says it all. And we all know how bad a person needs to be treated for them to hate that person ![]() Re-watch rating - 6/10.

Still a decent episode, but a come down on "-22".
Two standout moments - The return of the Mikhail and some wonderful hate-filled moments with Jin and Charlie. In particular, they ensured his rivaly with Charlie was in-place in preparation for their 3.23 encounter. Naomi's revelation that 815 had been found bottom at the deep blue - with no survivors, was a giagantic seed which is still flourishing to this day. The flashback painted Sun evermore the loose woman and did nothing to help her reasoning in blaming Jin for their pre-island relationship. Though there was a nice moment between her and Juliet inside the Caduceus. Re-watch value 6/10
