EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF

The fourth episode of Season 3 is Sawyer's flashback, where we learn that he is in prison after he conned Cassidy out of her money. Sawyer learns that a fellow inmate is in there for stealing millions of dollars from the government, and Sawyer warns him that the prison governer wants it back and will soften him up and use his wife to get to it. Sawyer has a visit from Cassidy and she tells him that he has a daughter, Clementine, but Sawyer refuses to acknowledge her. Later on Munson - the man who stole the government's money - asks Sawyer to help him move the money and Sawyer agrees, because he hates the prison governer and doesn't want him to get it. But at the end it's revealed that Sawyer has been working with the governer, and in return for passing over information about the location of the money Sawyer gets a cut of it and the rest of his prison sentence taken away, with him requesting that his money be put into an account under the name of Clementine Philips.

Meanwhile on the island Colleen is rushed back to the Others' town, and Juliet - against Ben's wishes - brings in Jack to help save her. But he can't and Colleen dies, and in a rage Pickett violently hits Sawyer until Kate cries out that she loves him. After failing to stun Ben and break out of the cage when he's paid a visit by him, Sawyer is taken inside and informed that a pacemaker has been palced inside him that will cause his heart to explode if his pulse rises above a certain level or if he tries to escape. Back in the cages Kate manages to escape from hers and asks why Sawyer didn't fight back against Pickett, but he refuses to answer and Kate climbs back into her cage, worried that Sawyer is scared enough to lie to her. During the night Ben takes Sawyer away for a walk up to the top of the island and tells him that they only pretended to put a pacemaker into his chest - that the only way to gain a conman's respect is to con him. Ben then shows Sawyer that they are actually on another island, and that escape is impossible for them.

[Easily confused]

I don't like this episode I'm not sure its really worth watching through 40 mins worth just to find out Sawyer has a daughter and that the hydra is on a separate island to everything else

I'm sorry to say that I didn't watch this one (although I have seen it 4 times too many), may the Lost God's forgive me..I will repent by laying down a sacrifice at the four toed statue..

From memory this was a rather lousy episode. Like much of the first 6 it is seriously lacking in structure and integrity.

Was this the episode were K+S got it on? Blah, reason not to re-watch #1.

The flashback was sterile and pretty boring..who cares about Tangerine-Phillips?? So Sawyer's got a child (possibly 2 if Future Kate has a child)..I prefer the Kwon baby saga myself.

I'm stuggling to talk about this episode...perhaps because I didn't rewatch it or perhaps because it was so bad that I purged those memories quicker than Ben at Dharma-gate? I'm sure some good stuff happened tho? Was this the one were K had to beg J to perform the Op on B? That glass wall scene rocked!

I didn't think this episode was that bad. It contains one hell of a scary looking prison guard! And the whole Sawyer pacemaker thing was slightly exhilirating...
