"Does Boone escape the Island"?

We have all probbaly seen the Lost advertisements that keep asking this question about several Survivors but I had a thought. I think this has been discussed before, or atleast it sounds as though it may have been.

Taking into account the presence of the Island's afterlife and general 'uniqueness' and assuming that God cannot see the Island, - what if when people die they never actually leave? Yes we saw Libby at the hospital when Michael tried to commit suicide but even if it WAS her, perhaps dead people are still trapped and can never rest in peace?

Perhaps when all is over, the dead can be set free? And for the time being they are 'needed' by the Island? One arguement is that they are simply Ghosts. But surely the common occurance of this means it is not so simple?

If indeed the dead Survivors are needed, what do you suppose for? They have guided our Survivors in some instances, while other deceased have NOT made appearances - Shannon for example. Perhaps the Island found her useless and expelled her? I jest, but I suppose if not making appearances, they are doing "something" we cannot see?

We should be thankful we have seen him though - though it would be good to see him again. And some others also, like Shannon and Eko.

If indeed the dead Survivors are needed, what do you suppose for? They have guided our Survivors in some instances, while other deceased have NOT made appearances - Shannon for example. Perhaps the Island found her useless and expelled her? I jest, but I suppose if not making appearances, they are doing "something" we cannot see?

Now that you mention it, it seems to me that Shannon and Eko are the only two deceased survivors who havnt been seen as apparitions yet. Can anyone confirm this? Other than Jin and Michael since they both just died and not counting Nikki and Paulo, because well, they dont count.

If this is the case I am sure it is not just coincidence that they are also the only two characters who had come full circle in life and more or less redeemed themself. Shannon finally found "peace" so to speak with someone (Sayid) finally believed in her and found her useful and Eko faced basically the same decision facing Smokey that he did when he was a child choosing being a killer to save his brothers life. In Ekos beliefs saving his brother was the right thing to and he would never have any regrets about this. In other words, if he had his life to live over again, he would not. Maybe the island simply cannot use these people as apparitions because they are at peace with themselves and have no weaknesses the island might be able to use. I dont know, just a thought.

But Eko has been seen as an apparition. Just not by us (because Adewale is probably not interested in coming back). We know that Hurley saw Eko in Santa Rosa (and played chess with him! )
