Since i've been on the topic of 'Jate' (Jack and Kate) today, I was thinking..out of the two of them, who do you think made the first move? I mean, Jate didn't happen over night (or did it? Often it seems like it came from nowhere

) so when were the first seeds of this doomed relationship planted?

Don't tell me they were destined to be together?

(if that's the case then destiny has ALOT to answer for!)

I can't really vote on this, unless I watch Pilot again, but I would say Kate. (If you know what I'm getting at...)

I don't think anyone initiated it, although, technically, I guess Jack did when he asked her to sew up his back.

It kind of just happened as they were hanging out. Ironically, Sawyer seemed like a catalyst.

Kate kissed Jack first - does that count as initiation?

I think Jack liked Kate early on but was disappointed when she chose to stay on the beach instead of follow him to the caves so that probably cooled his ardour for a time. However, when Jack got trapped in the caves with Charlie, Kate gave Jack a great big loving hug when she discovered he and Charlie had found a way out so I guess the hug gave Jack the signal that Kate was keen on him anyway!

Good point about Kate's signals MA. Speaking of which, I just remembered the scene where Kate asked Jack is he was checking out her bottom (which he like SOO wasn't!

). I swear she knew that he was just in deep thought, yet she made a big deal of it as if she wanted the man to be looking at it.

Perhaps this triggered somekind of expectation in Jack..maybe he felt that he should fancy Kate, even if she wasn't his cup of Jack Daniels?

Unlikely, but this is Jack.

I wouldn't say that, but I have doubts their relationship would have developed so much in the 90 days if Jack wasn't facing the threat of Sawyer moving in.

It seems to me as if they were both always interested in each other (and Kate (and possibly Jack

) in Sawyer too).

The whole Scene in House of the rising Sun were Kate doing up Jacks Back pack and her asking about the Tattoos was it was all her !!!!

Jack is a doctor i think he is more then capable of putting water in his bag and closing it!

Jack would have probably gone for Kate if he never learnt about her past.

Jack's best dismissal was clearly the time where he explained to a flirting Kate ("So you brought me along instead of anyone else for this lonely trek into the jungle, eh?") that the only reason he brought her along was because she's useless to the Others.

I think Kate's more flirty with what she says, definitely, but Jack always seemed to be the one initiating their conversations and trying to consult her on issues she couldn't care less about. Though from a transcript, for example, Kate would look like the needy one, Jack definitely feels like the clingy, needy one when you watch them.

To reiterate, I think they were both interested in each other.
