Coldplay - Viva La Vida - Lost! and 42

So, on Coldplays new album, there are two songs that follow each other, the first "Lost!" a foot stomping choon, followed the by revealing 42, with lyric lines such as "those who are dead, are not dead, they're just living in my head".

hmm, 42 is of course one of the numbers, who thinks they are lost fans?

Hmmm. That does seem to be a bit of a coincidence doesn't it? I bet they are fans and if so, that is pretty cool that they paid tribute in their album!! Thanks for the info!

In other news, the album is poor - in my opinion - their weakest yet Which is a shame as I used to idolise Coldplay

What do you mean by weak and poor? Not disagreeing with you, but the first 3 were created by colplay as a trilogy (Parachutes, A rush of blood to the head, XandY) and they meant this to be treated differently.

So yeah, Ive only listened to the album about 6 times, so thats no room for me to comment on whever I like it yet (my fav album of all time Moseley Shoals by Ocean Colour Scene (the guys in my sig and avi) took about 20 listens to properly get into, to form a proper comment on it. Which was: "jesus, I need to start songwriting" - and so I did :P)

There's too many anthem-wannabees on this album, like, they're trying to create something massive and explosive but instead they've created tunes which aren't catchy.

Many of them build up to a big crescendo which fail to live up to the hype generated during the tune - in my opinion.

Sometimes it's a good thing when bands take on another direction. But I miss the raw-nerve that was Parachutes. But maybe I need to be more open minded?

I think they've looked at the likes of Yellow and asked "how can we create another anthem-like song like that?" and the result is an album which feels like it's trying too hard.

Again, that could be just me but this life long Coldplay fan doesn't like the new direction
